I got to see the new sheet of ice being made, treated and painted at Verizon Center.
I got to feel the chill in the building; watch the craftsmen paint; listen to the engineers discuss humidity; and see new sponsor logos being prepared.
It was a great experience and a great feeling. We are very focused on the quality of ice; on its engineering; and on its up keep. The ice is really beautiful as it is getting painted - pristine and high quality. It felt like a cathedral.
I then walked 50 yards to the Wizards practice facility and watched a full-on practice. A large group of our players were in attendance. The games were intense. The speed and tempo were high. You can sense the vets are getting ready and the rookies and camp invitees are nervous and trying hard to impress. Camp will be quite competitive.
I then toured the newly designed Owner’s Box. I am quite happy. It has really hit me that the seasons for the Capitals and Wizards are right around the corner. All of the hard work we have been executing over the last 100 days or so at Verizon Center is about to be unveiled and that even we in ownership will see some new and improved spaces.
It felt good to be at Verizon Center. It felt good to see and smell the ice and to see our players practice on the court.
Drop the puck. Jump Ball. Let’s go! Let us get to work.
