I Saw Josh Howard Yesterday

He is looking good and is very upbeat and positive.

I appreciate that and I believe he will make a big contribution to the team this season.

Here is a really thorough analysis of Josh and his body of work.

Speaking of bodies of work, I will say it again: Kevin Seraphin. Now that is a big body – built to bang under the boards.

Guess What I Did Yesterday?

I got to see the new sheet of ice being made, treated and painted at Verizon Center.

I got to feel the chill in the building; watch the craftsmen paint; listen to the engineers discuss humidity; and see new sponsor logos being prepared.

It was a great experience and a great feeling. We are very focused on the quality of ice; on its engineering; and on its up keep. The ice is really beautiful as it is getting painted - pristine and high quality. It felt like a cathedral.

I then walked 50 yards to the Wizards practice facility and watched a full-on practice. A large group of our players were in attendance. The games were intense. The speed and tempo were high. You can sense the vets are getting ready and the rookies and camp invitees are nervous and trying hard to impress. Camp will be quite competitive.

I then toured the newly designed Owner’s Box. I am quite happy. It has really hit me that the seasons for the Capitals and Wizards are right around the corner. All of the hard work we have been executing over the last 100 days or so at Verizon Center is about to be unveiled and that even we in ownership will see some new and improved spaces.

It felt good to be at Verizon Center. It felt good to see and smell the ice and to see our players practice on the court.

Drop the puck. Jump Ball. Let’s go! Let us get to work.

I Do Wish This Set of Articles Was Called…

Training Camp Updates NOT Training Camp “Concerns.” :-)

But that is just me. I see opportunity everywhere. I see newness and freshness and change everywhere. I am an optimist. I am positive. I lean in.

So far these articles and comments have voiced concern about our size; our experience; our rebounding; our vet players; our young players, our traded for players; our first round pick; our introduction of John Wall; our draft; and our Midnight Madness. There is even concern about our levels of concern.

I get it. I get the joke but I see opportunity and upside. I need to see beyond the “concerns.” I hope you all understand my point of view.

Don’t be concerned. Someone is more concerned about the concerns than you are. I am concerned about the concerns. :-)  But I will stay and remain positive. Not delusional but positive. Don’t be concerned. I won’t get down.  :-)

I Hardly Use My Cell Phone

I agree with the tenor of this article.

I barely use my cell phone. I don’t want to be interrupted from doing my work or being focused in meetings with others. I call out but hardly anyone calls me in.

I am old school that way. I think many people will start to use their phones in this manner. We are always connected by online media. Why do we have to be always connected by audio, too?
