Preseason Game Heads Up

Just a quick note to folks about tonight’s Wizards preseason game.

We are focused on sales and pre-game and in-game presentation deliverables for the regular season.

You will not experience a lot of new things at tonight’s game. You will still have lots of fun at the game but don’t expect to see a preview of our work for the regular season. Also, do not expect a sold out crowd tonight either. I am hoping that we have 6,000 or so paid admissions in the building. That would make me happy. And we will all be cozy, too.

I also understand that Elvin Hayes is in town on other business and has decided to come by and say hello and watch tonight’s game. That should be fun.

Grinding Out A Win

We won in OT. Alex Ovechkin scored and we get two standing points.

It was one of those games: The Senators clogged up the neutral zone; we had to play a bit of a chess match; they played a great road game. They get a point but we get two.

These are the kinds of games that can go either way in today’s NHL. We didn’t play great. We didn’t play poorly. We get a win. I am grateful.

We are playing better D. We are doing a very good job on the penalty kill, an area we are dedicated to improving. Mike Green logged a lot of minutes. He and Jeff Schultz are playing very well on the defensive end.

We play again on Wednesday night, our fourth game in six days. What a way to start the season - a bunch of games packed closely together! I hope we stay healthy. It is good to have some depth in today’s NHL. It is a long season and it is just getting started.

Being Fair With Our Fans

We could sell out Verizon Center with full and partial season ticket holders for all Caps games. There is a lot of pressure on us from fans who want to move up on our waiting list to buy season tickets.

I want to be fair and reasonable with everyone. I know that season tickets aren’t for everyone. The price is high; the commitment level is high; and if we sold out all of our tickets the only way a casual fan would have access to tickets would be through resellers at a very high price.

Hence we have decided to keep some single game tickets available for purchase for our games and I am hopeful that you will take advantage of this offer and come out and try NHL action or just come on in and see the Caps play.

I think this is the right thing to do and it is a great way to introduce new fans to the game and reacquaint long term fans who can’t commit to season tickets to the new Washington Capitals.

Here is a link to buy these tickets. I am hopeful you will come on out. Go Caps!

I Will Be There Tonight – Will You?

Pre-season Game 1 is tonight for the Washington Wizards.

There may be some special guests in the house. Tune in.

The game should be a fun one as our coach test drives different looks and line-ups and lets the players run and work on new sets.

Come on out and enjoy NBA basketball.

There is too much talk about noise. The game is where the signal occurs.

I don’t care if Gilbert Arenas has a beard down to his knees as long as he is healthy; happy; ”coachable”; and is a great teammate - which I believe he is – all is good in my book. I know he is one heck of a terrific player.

Yi had a great time at the Caps game last night, too. We are building a positive and fun culture. It was his first time at an NHL game. Thank you to the sold out crowd last night for welcoming Yi to Washington, DC. That was very nice of you. Go Caps! Go Wizards!
