Why Are People Afraid To Say The Term “REBUILDING?”

I am not.

The Washington Wizards were in the lottery last season. And the season before that.

The team had 3 players who ate up a lot of salary–and were once named to the All Star team.

Yet the last two seasons were not happy times on the court. And the team was getting older, losing its upside.

I see zero risk in taking on a rebuild. How can it get worse than the last two years in terms of wins and losses? And even if it does, we have the potential to improve and remake the team around young, talented players.

I think we have a pretty good mix of vets and young players as well right now.

We will play hard. We will be competitive. We will entertain you too with our enthusiasm.

We will continue to remake the team and re-craft the identity of the team. I am committed. We are committed.

As I have noted, we are in this together.

I am unabashedly asking you all to come on this journey with us. Don’t be afraid. Embrace change. Embrace the future. And buy a couple of tickets and come to the games along the way! Thank you. Click Here.

Praise

We played a really terrific game last night.

Thanks to the nice folks around the blogosphere for recognizing that fact.

Funny how the “haters” don’t email me after a 3-0 shutout road win, though. :-)

I thought we played “the right way.” We rolled four lines. We played pack mentality defense. We had stellar goaltending. Where are the critics now on playing a young goaltender in net? And the victory was a mature full team effort. I am very happy. Most of our fans are as well.

Now we play tonight - back to back - a long trip into Minny arriving late. Who thought of this schedule anyway? Not a moment to savor a win. Not a moment to heal up and over come some nagging injuries.

Onward.

Well played.

Go Caps!

You Had Better Hurry

We are almost sold out for our opening night game for the Washington Wizards.

I am serious.

Don’t complain if you get locked out and have to buy tickets from resellers at a higher price.

Click here and buy tickets ASAP or reserve and buy tickets for the next game on Saturday as well.

Thank you for your support. Opening night will be a lot of fun. Fair warning!

No Sense of Entitlement

I really like this attitude! I spent time with the team yesterday and with the coach and the GM.

I am unabashed in embracing the rebuild of the team together.

This is a fresh start.

We are in it together.

I am patient.

All I ask for is hard work; positive attitudes; selflessness; conditioning; a deep rotation; and a system that capitalizes on our players’ talents.

This road will be bumpy. We are prepared for the learning curve. We are young. We have many new players. We have talent, toughness, length and speed.

It all begins Thursday night against a great team on the road on national television at the opening of their new building. Might as well throw the kids into the deep end of the pool to get started!
