Click here. Thank you. A great time was had by all. It was so great to see so many of you!

We have had lots of parties and celebrations to kick off this new season.

But now we get into the heat of the battle. We play back to back–tonight in Carolina, tomorrow in Minnesota. And then on Saturday in Calgary.

3 games on the road. 3 different time zones. 3 tough teams. We are short-handed. As everyone says, if it doesn’t kill you, it makes you stronger.

I think adversity is good. I think having to fight for points and seeing how we develop toughness, mentally and physically, is a positive process for us to undergo as a team.

Nothing worth gaining isn’t worth fighting for. Wish us good fortune. Go Caps.

I have Jitters

I admit it. I am nervous and apprehensive and excited.

Our first season as owners of an NBA team.

Leading a storied franchise in our nation’s capital.

During a total re-build of the team.

Building around young players.

Opening on national television.

Did anyone watch the two games last night to open the NBA season? That sure was fun and surely was sobering, wasn’t it?

We are embarking on a journey together.

My commitment to everyone: we will be passionate, work hard, invest time–money–energy and passion into the franchise.

We will bring a winner to our fans.

I will be patient. We will stick with our plan during good times and bad times.

Throw the kids into the deep end of the pool; let them swim!

Pray for good health; pray for good fortune.

We are in this together. Let us have some fun; let us grow together. Click here.

Becoming Barack

An important film here regarding the development of our President and his life story. I enjoyed watching this one very much. I watched it over a quick lunch. The film is 41 minutes long. It is about our President before he was elected. Very insightful work on SnagFilms.com. A new film shot in 2009.

Standings

Nashville leads the NHL in points with 13 garnered to date.

Eleven 11 teams have 10 or more points to date.

In the East, four teams have 10 or more points. We are one of them.

We haven’t played anywhere near our potential but we are positioned well. Eight games played – 10 points to date.

I am hopeful that we heal up. We have really missed the minutes from Mike Green and Tom Poti. The difference between success and failure in pro sports is so small. Had we won our home game against Boston last week and sat with 12 points after 8 games, we all would be thinking must more positively today, wouldn’t we? At least as to our record to date.

The lesson? Every game matters.

Every period counts.

Every shift is important.

The regular season matters.

How we play is as important as how we gain standing points but we must NOT fool ourselves. The regular season is vital. The NHL has great parity. There are so many great teams and so many teams filled with young up-and-coming great players. We can never rest. We can never take a shift off. Everything we do is under scrutiny. It all matters.
