I Have Been in Meetings Where Steve Jobs…

  • Discussed and asked questions about the clay content in paper from a supplier in Italy.
  • He asked about thread count.
  • Where he knew more about the type face and kerning than our production heads.
  • He pulled out a loop to review the layout.
  • Where he understood the process involved around the seven colors and spot varnish treatment around the Apple logo.
  • Literally stared at a printed page for minutes and minutes getting a feel for what a laser printer output page would look and feel like to a consumer.

And this was in a set of meetings almost 20 years ago! Steve loves his products. He loves the process. He is meticulous and always has been.

People that love their products and care about customers think and act this way. They are relentless.

Don’t make fun of my obsession over ketchup dispensers ever again! :-)

3 to 2 OT Win

Wasn’t pretty except for the wonderful goaltending.

But we have now won four games in a row and got our first road win against a team that was undefeated this season. We lead our division and join other division leaders such as the NY Islanders; Toronto Maple Leafs; Nashville Predators; Colorado Avalanche; and Dallas Stars. I defy anyone out there to show me their fantasy card that shows these teams as divisional leaders after the first 10 days of the NHL season.

We need to rest up and heal up.

We are really banged up - five games in 9 days. The NHL is quite demanding. Every team is a good team out there.

Thanks for the loving emails on a Saturday night when we were down 2-0 as well. :-)

Concerned?

We should be.

It is good to be concerned. I share your concerns. I can’t sleep at night. I have insomnia.

Express your concerns. Let it all out. Free yourself of your frustrations and concerns.

To date this week the concerns as expressed by many of you via email to me center on centers; defense; goaltending; scoring; power plays; penalty kills; coaching; the GM; the ownership; the ice; the traffic; the fighting; the music; the season ticket holder party; the lineup; the video player; the national anthem singers; the beer vendors; the give aways; the Tom Green video; the chill in the air; the hot dogs; the soap in the dispensers; the ushers; the vegetables used in vegetarian fare; the lighting; the Metro; the salary cap; the league; the website; the ads run by Comcast; the schedule; the nut allergies; the gluten free fare; the merchandise; the post game show; the lines at vendors in between periods; the record; the next 78 games; the injuries; the price of tickets via resellers; and the weather.

Thank you. That was a week of concerns summed up above and in this blog post. That felt better.
