Last Night at Wizards Game

Teachable moments all around.

When you play as a team and focus on a “one for all-all for one” mantra, things go well and as planned.

When you become a team that “isolates”; jacks up three pointers; and stands around, schemes unravel and you lose a game you could have won.

This is why we play preseason games - to teach young players that schemes and systems work and adhering to a style of play for an entire game matters. We have unselfish players. We have strong and big players. We have great passing capabilities on our team. The coaching staff will use film from last night’s game I am sure to show the “do’s and don’ts” for success for our team.

I felt sad that Gilbert Arenas tweaked a groin injury last night. I was happy that the fans met him and his player introduction with enthusiasm and applause. Thank you.

We hosted Kevin Plank, CEO of the fantastic Under Armour company, last night at the game. He is a local business legend and we are all proud of Kevin and the great company he has built.

We also hosted Russell Simmons at the game last night. He is a true impresario and fantastic business and cultural thought leader, too.

Alternative Universe

We are getting terrific goaltending.

We are playing very well on the penalty kill.

Jeff Schultz has NOT been on the ice for a goal against this season.

Mike Green is a beast logging lots of ice time and playing world class defense.

We are quite scrappy. And tough and we stand up for one another.

We have only played a few good periods this entire season yet we are 3-1 and in second place in the East after the first week of NHL regular season play. See standings.

Go figure.
