Caps Play Boston Tonight

They are scary good. Gigantic and tough D man in Zdeno Chara. Best goaltender in the NHL right now and former Vezina trophy winner, Tim Thomas. Unbelievable stats - 7 and 0 record and 3 shutouts to date.

The Bruins practiced at Kettler Capitals Iceplex yesterday and they look strong all around.

We are 0 and 2 against them so far this season.

This will be a tough game.

We will need our fans to help uplift us. We need a 7th man tonight. Be extra loud and proud please. Thank you. Go Caps!

I Know Earvin “Magic” Johnson, Jr.

I am friends with Earvin “Magic” Johnson, Jr.

He likes and respects John Wall.

He did the John Wall dance at Kentucky. See this article.

Magic will be coming to see us play when we go against Houston on Wednesday, November 10th. We will host him in our box. We will sit in the Dream Seats near our bench.

Magic is a great man filled with advice, class and dignity. I respect his words of wisdom to me very much. We talk basketball. We talk business. For some odd reason, we bump into each other on family vacations all of the time – three times in the last five years! And all around the globe!

He also knows sports are a part of the entertainment business.

We Extended Andray Blatche To Show Him

Our confidence in him.

We didn’t want Andray to focus on individual stats and to be playing for a contract.

We wanted him to become part of a young core that is focused on teamwork and winning. A fresh beginning.

He had a setback this offseason as he broke his foot. He has been working incredibly hard to get back into game shape.

He is a rare combination of size, skill, speed and great foot work. He also sees the court quite well.

He is still developing. He believes in his teammates. He is a vocal leader and he will continue to put up impressive numbers as the season progresses.

I have spent quality one on one time with this young man and I like him. I believe in him. I know he has great upside and that he believes in his teammates. And himself.

Good health is a key deliverable for our franchise.

Andray is recovering from his foot issues.

Gilbert Arenas has had a set of injuries but is close to coming back. Maybe tonight or tomorrow night as reported here.

Josh Howard is training hard and will help us a lot once he returns. He is a slashing type of player and has a very mature presence on the court.

Getting these three players back and in shape will help us become much more competitive and also help us to manage minutes and set a deeper rotation for the team. It will make the coach’s job a lot easier as well.

Keeping all of the players refreshed in a rotation; managing their minutes; and monitoring their health and routines is all apart of our process and one that we take seriously.

We are one week into the season. I have said time after time that we are unabashed about a rebuild. It will take patience. We will have tough games in front of us. We will take steps forward and then steps back.

I know what we are in for but as long as we see improvement; work ethic; bonding of teammates; “coachability”; and upside - I will be satisfied.

So you know I listen to everyone - people who encourage and people that criticize - but I do have my own set of strong beliefs and will try to stay the course as I believe in our strategy and know it works in the long run. I also want to win games right now just like all of you.

“You Can’t Dougie Out and Then You Lose”

Most profound statement uttered in DC this week by a man of power.

History is being made at Verizon Center again.

A rebuild is taking shape.

A wonderful star is in the making. So far – so good.

Don’t you want to come on out and see for yourself?

Remember when I preached that the Washington Capitals were like a growth stock? Get in early like you did on AOL, Google and Microsoft stock? Now we are totally sold out with a waiting list. Bad times became good times. The people that believed were rewarded.

I am here to tell you that about the Washington Wizards. Buy your tickets now, please. Sign up for season tickets. Get in early and own your seats. We will continue to invest in the team and improve the team. We will have star power. We will have an arc of growth. Get in early. Sorry, I had to get up on a soap box. We need your help. We play this Saturday night. We need and want you to be in attendance. The team plays better in front of a sold out building. Come support the team. Click here. Off of soap box now.

When we have a total paid sellout this season, I will do the “Dougie” – I promise.
