The arena will be less frenzied than was previously thought. One of the main dignitaries scheduled to attend has been forced to cancel. He will reschedule.
I just wanted to keep it real and honest with everyone. Just got word of this development a few moments ago. Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused our employees, fans or members of the media.
Thank you.
Ted, don’t listen to all the naysayers.
I remember feeling the same way when we traded big marketable Caps players in the name of rebuilding. People, the Wizards aren’t going to be championship contenders overnight. It’s a long and painful process but the long-term investment pays off.
You wait and see!
From everyone here at the George Lopez show thank you for continuing then sad saga of the Wizards.
The trade is so horrible we can’t even think of jokes for Monday! Did you not realize he was your only marketable star? Wall can’t even speak or apparently deal with any pain except cramps!
Ernie grunfeld traded Gilbert arenas for the worst contract in the NBA, a bum the wizards have no use for who is only 10m cheaper than the fan favorite. Considering neither player has any value to the wizards, ern should have demanded Carter or else. That would have let the arenas contract be a wash after this season. Ernie is the Kahn of the east and keeping him on is pushing the longrunning fans of the team away. That was a pau-bad trade.
Had no problem getting in or out last night – no more than at any other sold-out Wizards match.
Good competitive match too – pity it slipped away in the final minute.
Should have been honest with us about Gil.
Just wanted to let you know I am simply DEVASTATED that you traded Gil away – after you said REPEATEDLY that you would not do so. Guess you lied to us.
Gil was the heart and soul of the Wizards for a long time and your actions have forced me to no longer follow the team.
Can’t believe you did this – and for what?
You just lost a season ticket holder. Pathetic move, trade Arenas fine but don’t give us the most overpaid player in NBA history in return.
For all your talk about season ticket holders meaning so much you have lied to us at the events at this point about the direction of the team. I feel betrayed and scammed.
Actually he stated to Mike Lee that he heard the Arenas trade went down and decided not to even bother with an even more lopsided affair.
Disappointed in you guys Ted. You just traded for the worst contract in the league, and this is after you stating to the fanbase for months Arenas wasn’t going anywhere.
Thank God I didn’t fall for the season ticket thing. I considered buying them purely for the Arenas promise. Figured I’d wait to see if the regime truly changed…..I see the doublespeak survives from the Pollin era (RIP).
you lied to us.
‘WE’RE NOT TRADING GILBERT” you said.
and now you’ve traded him for a useless player and contract…where is Rashard Lewis going to play? behind Blatche? great…now we’ve got another 6’10″ guy who plays outside instead of inside (like Blatche).
7 years as a season ticket holder…no reason to renew for next year…we are the Clippers of the East Coast.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Today’s trade will free up cap room and we will have another high draft choice next year. Ernie has been drafting and trading for about five years. Name 7 players he’s drafted that are still in the NBA. In his time here he has managed to put together a team of 10 day contract players and immature draft choices. The cap room gotten by getting rid of Gilbert will be wasted again if Ernie continues to call the shots.
Im sorry you guy’s felt that Arenas had to go. I’m a native of Washington Dc and was a big follower of the Wizards. I will move on not a big Wall fan. Very Sad, Best to you.

Mr. Leonsis, I am hearing that Gil is being traded. This after you assured us Gil fans that he was staying here. Just so you know, there are more Gil fans than your organization realizes and we are none to happy to hear this. Hope Wall works out for you since that is where you placed all your chips. And I hope Gil is happy and once again the force on court that he used to be. Wherever he lands, I will be cheering for him. He deserves a second chance with a team and city that will welcome him and his talents. And apparently it isn’t here.
Hopefully, Gil will be on the court! We need to keep him even with JWall (who’s got injury problems himself). Go Wiz!
