Thank You

When Eric Fehr scored just as time expired at the end of the first period, I said to my wife, “This is truly a remarkable set of circumstances. I can’t believe this run of bad luck. We can’t catch a break. Another goal that doesn’t count just like the one that started the losing streak in Dallas.”

My wife said, “No. They saw the puck go into the net. Watch – they will come out flying in the second period. The bad luck stops right now. It is your bookend of bad luck on goals scored.”

As usual, she was right and I was wrong.

I am very happy for the players and staff that we broke our losing streak last night. It was wonderful to see the players jumping up and down and skating off the ice at game’s end with smiles instead of frowns.

We have a long way to go to heal and improve but every journey starts with a small step.

And with improved goaltending.

Stop the puck. Score some goals. Play with energy. Have some fun.

Onward to Tuesday at home. Go Caps!

  1. Ottawa is beyond horrendous and the Devils are even worse. Gets that’s one way to end a streak.

  2. Teddy I watched the game standing up! I rang the cow bell and had plan old fashion FUN. Victory. Sweet Victory. By the end of the game you could feel “The Love”. You could feel a true sense of pride! Way To Go Caps!!

  3. My neighbors must think I’m crazy but I was so thrilled with how they played in the 2nd and 3rd last night. A much deserved win. I shed a few tears of happiness and relief when the boys were congratulating each other after the game. Big weight has been lifted – let’s go Caps!

  4. It seemed to me that the 2nd and 3rd periods on Saturday were the real turning points. . .they played awesome! And it came back and paid off big on Sunday. Awesome!! Yeah Caps!! Rock the Red!!!

  5. I was home alone, jumping up and down, screaming, then tears…my dog thinks I am nuts…OH WELL! Go Caps!

  6. I was so nervous in the last period, almost like a playoff game. Happy for the man/kids on our team. The joy in their faces was so real and so refreshing. First win for Scott Hannon who looked so much better last night. I am ready to yell and scream on Tuesday night.

You hit it on the head….HAVE Fun!!!! As an owner of an IT Consulting Company I have learned to create an environment of making sure people are enjoying thier work and having fun doing it. After watching the HBO show I noticed that the Caps were all dejected. The speach coach Bruce gave just made it worse. The reason I fell in love with this team in 2007 was because of thier Positive energy. They always looked like they were having fun. Last nights game was the old Caps flying around the Ice like kids again (no negative thoughts) just having fun playing hockey!!! I hope they now know that is thier identity, that’s what people know and love them for.

  8. Fortunately, the next team up is New Jersey, which can diplomatically be said not to be playing its best hockey in franchise history.

Since it’s the final tune-up for Game 1 against Pittsburgh, I hope we get to see an all-out assault on the Devils as an appetizer for the main course Thursday night.

Congratulations on stopping the skid. The relief is most welcome. But there is much work left to be done.

    Best of luck.

    Vpered!

  9. You could see in the last 2:45, that they were not going to let up. Loved the celebration at the end. Mathieu Perreault was amazing and should be on the roster permanently.

  10. Wow…I haven’t been so excited for a win like that in a long time. I guess we’ve been somewhat spoiled as Caps fans. Let’s hope this kicks off a good run for the team.

  11. It was so nice to see all of their hard work finally pay off. They have come out playing hard the last two games and have fought through the adversity. Hopefully they will not dwell on the recent run of bad luck, but will use last night’s win as a catalyst to get them over the next hurdle.

As always, I am looking forward to watching the boys play at home when they return on Tuesday. Lets go Caps!

  12. What!?! You’re just now learning that “the wife is always right!?” Nice win! GO CAPS!!!
