Taking a Break

It is the holidays.

My family is back together.

Time to reflect. Time to volunteer.

Time to give back.

Time to vacation.

Time to clear one’s mind.

Time to heal.

I am going dark until the New Year. I am unplugging from you all.

No blogging.

No answering anyone’s emails at Washcaps or the TheWashwiz accounts.

If you have any venting or any requests or appeals or insults or immediate asks, they will have to be dealt with by somebody else for a week or so. :-)

Try to enjoy life this holiday season. You can do it.

My family isn’t exchanging gifts this holiday season. We have all that we need. We are supporting two charities instead with help and with monies. So many people and organizations need help – real help – and have real needs. Sometimes I lose sight of that by reading so many emails from the same people with the same issues over and over again. :-)

So it is time to chill. Time to reflect. Time to have some family fun. Time to give back. Time to show gratitude. Time for some privacy.

Happy holidays everyone.

Great News for Pittsburgh Economy

This is such great news. Read this article please.

The local economy will be stimulated.

The city will shine.

The NBC network will treat the nation to the game and pay homage to a fantastic sports town. The NHL’s Winter Classic is such a magnificent game, event and business for host cities.

We are proud to take part in it. Grateful we are.

Younger. Different. Better.

Beagle. Gordon. Alzner. Johansson. Neuvirth. Carlson. Varlamov.

Did we really have – essentially – seven first full year players on the ice and bench last night?

I think we did. That is a lot of change for a team.

We are getting even younger.

We have a different look.

We played better than we have in a long time last night.

The fans were happy.

We aren’t out of the woods yet. There is so much time left in the season. We can’t seem to dodge the injury bug with Matt Bradley injuring his finger last night and now he may miss the next month. We are sad about that development. Matt is a heart and soul player for us.

Thanks to our fans for being so passionate and positive.

Thanks to the Hershey Bears for being such great partners with us.

We gain 2 standings points with the win last night. Technically, we are second in the East but third with most points and ten points above the 9th placed team in the playoff race.

We know we took some steps back in our winless streak. We know we have work to do to improve but the world didn’t end. Our season isn’t over. We learned some lessons. We also learned who our friends were, too.

Go Caps!
