43 games played.
55 points each.
Caps have scored 126 goals for and let in 113 against. Tampa has scored 128 goals and let in 137.
Tampa is 6-3-1 in its last 10 games. We are 6-1-3 in our last 10 games.
We play in Tampa tonight after a tough road game last night where we lost in OT to gain only 1 point.
While down 3 to 0 to Florida, we stormed back to tie and then lost in OT while short-handed.
We were 0 for 6 on the power play.
We were 3 for 6 on the penalty kill.
Special teams play like that isn’t going to get it done so I am grateful for a standings point.
The NHL is so competitive. There are so many good teams. Every night is a tough competitive match. Look at how bunched up most teams are in the standings.
And our week won’t get any easier as we play the league’s best team at home on Friday when Vancouver comes to visit.
Go Caps!
Friday and another L in the table. Well, just looking at the score updates at SI. Can’t bear to waste the whole time watching the game. Unsurprisingly, the team looks outmatched, outcoached. Just listless. Ted, I know you’re a patient and loyal man (which is a very good thing), but how long do the fans have to suffer through this? Patience is a virtue, but when you’re team shows little heart, the root cause of the listlessness must be rooted out. An out of shape Ovie, an overmatched coach, lack of discipline? A myriad of theories to explain the descent of this once great team to mediocrity or perhaps worse.
Patience’s my friends.
How does a team with this much offensive fire power get shut out 6 times. The league has figured out the Caps game plan and how to shut them down.Hate to say this, but someone or something needs to be changed before April or the Caps will be one and done,AGAIN.
I’ll tell you something Ted. For the first time in three years I changed the channel during a Caps game. They have become a very boring and predictable team playing without any emotion. I’ve seen other posts like this on other blogs.
There is something terribly wrong with this team.
I don’t buy the “pacing” stuff. I am concerned now that they may not even make the playoffs.
The problem is that we have the potential and the man power to be much, much better than we are playing. Justifying our lackadaisical play with the fact that we have points doesn’t win a Stanley Cup. How can we expect to go far in the playoffs when our three (usually) top scoring players in Backstrom, Semin, and Ovechkin can’t seem to even get shots anymore? When we try to force the same tactics down the throats of our opponents don’t we expect them to figure it out? Until our players become more unpredictable we are going to fight this every single night like we are seeing right now. All our goals are coming from the hard-working lines. Nothing from the skill line(s).
You can keep trying to push a square through a circle and have all the passion in the world. But until you figure out how to change the square to fit into the circular hole, it just ain’t gonna fit. As much as I hate to say it, take a look at Crosby and see how his game as changed and how it has helped the Penguins.
What causes our players to not play to their potential, particularly the leaders of the Caps? It’s disappointing to watch, even when we do get 2 points. We’re having to work harder to get points, which isn’t bad, but we’re getting points from the wrong people and our special teams absolutely sucks.
