I Empathize – This is No Joke

It is why I carry an epinephrine injection system with me whenever I travel. I have one in my brief case as well at all times.

Nut allergies can actually kill someone. In my life, I have been rushed to the hospital three different times because a waiter or a host at a dinner party assured me there were no nuts in a dish and I ate and then literally had a severe attack of asthma and hives. One time, I actually stopped breathing as my lungs and passage ways got so enflamed.

I hope Sean Parker is well. This is a very scary incident. Be careful out there.

“Lessons From A Tailor”

A highly respected film about survival; about war; and about redemption.

Beautifully shot. A wonderful tale. An absolutely uplifting story about a concentration camp survivor and his work in NYC today.

Hear his words.

He is in the Business of Happiness. He is the outfitter to the stars, a craftsman. A wonderful story about little details and about the BIG PICTURE. Watch it this weekend on SnagFilms.com.

Quite the Game

Quite the double OT loss. Although in this game I thought the opposing team won and we played with determination and professionalism and with grace. We didn’t lose the game. They won the game.

I loved seeing our young players out on the court. They made some rookie mistakes but that is how they will learn. The crucible of pressure and playing against the best of the best is a great learning experience. It will pay dividends in the future.

The Thunder is a fun team to watch. They are accomplished, fast and long. They run. They shoot well. They have stars. They have upside. They are tight knit. They have drafted well and developed well. They have a wonderful team culture that is positive and connected to the community.

What a wonderful blueprint they are following on their rebuild. Bravo.

We have miles to go before we sleep in our development but I took away many positive signs from the game last night.

Onward. Three more one the road and two back-to-back road games. It doesn’t get any easier from here on out on this trip.

LOL – No Bold Moves?

Hmm. I guess that is one perspective. I respect all opinions. But I must retort back.

We have blown up the team.

Our GM has traded all three of the big three in about a 12 month time frame.

We unabashedly announced a rebuild. We have 8 players out of 14 who weren’t on our team last season.

We have one of the youngest teams in the NBA.

We added a player with the second highest payroll payment in the NBA to the roster.

We all await what the new NBA will look like on a go forward basis. We implemented 101 changes. We have aggressively embraced new media. I guess 101 changes isn’t enough, huh? :-)

Our revenues are up 30 percent year over year in terms of ticketing sales.

We are a Top 10 Team in terms of adding new season tickets to our roster and we are top team in selling new paid for tickets in the NBA.

We don’t give tickets away. We adapt new media technologies such as Groupon, a company that I am a board member of and that advertises on your blogs! Do you like Groupon and do you like its ad business and revenues to you? Let me know because this article confused me? :-)

Thanks.

“Why Were We Spared?”

This article, interview and memorial bring back so many personal memories.

Bill Nelson was our Congressman when I lived in Vero Beach, FL back in the mid 1980′s.

I had just started dating the woman who would become my wife.

She and I and the Congressman and his wife became friends. We also were big supporters of the Congressman and held many fundraisers and salons at my home.

I was so proud of Congressman Nelson. He was a great friend of the community and he was also an astronaut. He talked a lot about his preparation of going into space. He also talked about how his trip had changed him and made him see that we all live on one fragile blue planet. He now saw “the big picture.” He was certainly now in an exclusive club, a Senator and an astronaut!

Whenever the shuttle was launched, everything would stop in our neighborhood and everyone would go to the beach to watch the shuttle fly.

The Challenger launch was no different. And there we stood watching and hoping and then the telltale signs that something was terribly wrong. We were all so shaken.

It seemed as personal as the helicopters flew around our beach on rescue missions afterwards. We all walked back to our offices and homes trembling, numb and crying.

President Reagan later addressed the nation and helped us all heal.

Congressman Nelson did great work for our community and helped in the investigation around this great national challenge that we all faced.

Time has gone on. Time heals many wounds. Congressman Nelson is now a Senator. He was there. We were there. What a memory. Time flies.
