Streaming

Streaming long form video is the way to go. It is fast, efficient, safe and secure. Convenient. Ubiquitous. Read this article on Netflix and their latest “digital twist.”

When we started SnagFilms, I remember many critics saying that downloading and DVD up sell was the way to go. I disagreed and I believed in streaming. SnagFilms is a leader in streaming long form video and offering our films everywhere on every platform for free or via pay per view.

I have always believed in convergence. I was thrilled to meet a DC neighbor on the Acela train on Monday watching a film on SnagFilms on his iPad as he journeyed to NYC. Now that is convergence. Using WiFi and an iPad to watch a free movie on a portable TV! He was also doing his email on his Blackberry.

I Was In Philly

For the game last night.

I attended and sat in the stands with a good friend. I paid a visit to Ed Snider, owner of the Flyers and his family. I visited with my son and his friends from U Penn who also attended the game.

The Flyers fans were very nice to me. I sat in row B. There was some mild trash talk but overall the experience of sitting in the stands with the fans was a lot of fun. There were several Caps fans sitting near me. Thank you for being so supportive and protective as well. Go Caps!

We played a very good game last night. Very tight defense with no penalties to speak of and no power plays either.

We came back from a 2-0 deficit in the third period and tied the game to grab a standings point. We lost in OT but I thought the game was well played at a high tempo. We are short-handed on offense and our coach did a great job in utilizing all of our players in a creative fashion within the new system. It was great to see Alex Ovechkin score, too, basically right in front of our seats.

We played a good game on the road against the team with the best record in the NHL. Onward.

Healthy

I think it is healthy to get called out like this.

I call out SI all of the time for NOT getting new media and losing its preeminence in sports journalism to EPSN.

I understand both sides of the equation. Communicate and be transparent vs. be solitary and in the background and never seen and never heard.

There is no right answer here. To thine own self be true.

I grew up in the new media world.

I like to blog.

I enjoy it. It is self expression. It is like oxygen. We had all better get used to it.

I will keep doing it but I understand this point of view.

Thank you.

Some link love to SI. They need the traffic. Check it out.
