Down the Stretch They Come

Carolina deserved the two points last night. They played hard and with more desperation than we did and eked out a shootout win. We get one point. We have 99 points and sit in second place in the East. Carolina now has 82 points and is three points out of the last playoff spot.

Buffalo is in the 8th spot with 85 points. We play Buffalo on Saturday at home. That game will be intense as well as the Sabres will be fighting for their playoff berth. We play Columbus this Thursday. I hope to see you all there as this regular season starts to draw to a close.

We integrated Alex Ovechkin and Jason Arnott back into the lineup last night. That was good to see. Welcome back. Go Caps!

Cash is King

Check out these companies and their hordes of cash. The Top 10 tech companies have $250 billion of cash available to innovate or do stock buy backs or execute mergers and acquisitions. The most cash in treasury in 50 years.

Follow the money.

What will they do with the cash? Cash is king!

Don’t Get Too High with the Highs

Or too low with the lows.

Power rankings. We are #2, a long way from an 8 game losing streak. The sky is falling. The end is near. Fire everyone. Blow the team up. Trade everyone.

I wasn’t too excited then and I am not too excited now.

Try to keep an even keel. Be analytic; be faithful; and be loyal not emotional.

Be patient. Good things come to those that wait.

Thank you. See you all tonight as we play a highly motivated team in the Carolina Hurricanes.

On Winning and Hard to Get Tickets

We ended up at close to 98% renewals for season tickets for the Capitals. We have a vibrant and growing waiting list for season tickets for next season.

We have assured ourselves of selling out every game next season as of today.

Our last home game of this season will be our 100th straight sellout.

Thank you so much for your support.

I hope we are worthy.

Here is an article that describes what is happening right now in terms of playoff ticket sales.

I cannot thank you enough for your interest and support. Go Caps!

Staying Up Late

For those of us who stayed up late, we all saw a fun and competitive basketball game last night from Utah.

The Wizards are young and inexperienced and yes, we are short-handed. We are missing Nick Young, Andray Blatche, Josh Howard, Rashard Lewis and Trevor Booker. Am I allowed to say that? That is five of our top rotation players.

We were playing on the road and in back to back games.

So this is a good win; an OT win; and one where John Wall was a true leader and a great emerging young star in the NBA. He scored 28 points and our other rookie back court player, Jordan Crawford, scored 25 points. Two rookies in the same back court playing well and bonding on the floor makes me smile.

Kudos to the players that are rallying around each other and having fun. John played almost 50 minutes last night. Too much we know but we are so short-handed that the coach doesn’t have many other options and John loves the game and wants to play.

It is great to see the young players and the staff working hard game by game to improve and to build a culture of hard work and “we are in it together” mentality.

The team takes a red eye home; gets a day off; and then we play on Wednesday against the Miami Heat at home. It doesn’t get any easier, does it? Tough schedule but it will feel wonderful to be home for the players and staff. A good win. Thank you.

Washington Post Talks About Injuries Too Much

Funny. :-)

Click here. Four straight articles all on Caps injuries. Hey wait a minute. I thought I talk too much about injuries?

I had to laugh.

Dan and I are cool by the way. We like to have fun back and forth. We email all of the time together. All is well. Don’t take it too seriously. It is only a blog posting.

Sorry if some of you found the banter off-putting. I apologize.
