First Place in East Clinched

Two years in a row.

Second best record in NHL clinched.

We await our first round opponent in the playoffs. It will be either the New York Rangers or the Carolina Hurricanes.

If it is the Canes that would mean the Southeast Division placed three teams in the playoffs. That would be something unique.

We have a game to play tonight still. I am hopeful that we play it with professionalism but that no one gets hurt.

We will know our schedule for the playoffs come Sunday night.

Wish us well.

Enjoy these moments. It is a difficult task to have the most points – two years in a row – in the Eastern Conference and to be placed first or second in over all points in the entire NHL for two years in a row. We have qualified for the playoffs now with this core of a team for four seasons in a row.

We should never take this work for granted. We are blessed. Enjoy the ride.

Thank you for your support over the years and for your best wishes. Go Caps!

  1. It’s been an exciting season, even with the ups and downs. Very much worth my entertainment dollars. Let’s hope the playoffs are building on the experiences of the past few seasons and the team challenges for the Cup!

  2. GO CAPS! I am so excited for many reasons. #1 in the East, Division winners again with, as you mentioned Ted, 3 teams in (we’ll see in a few hours, go canes), but most of all…

This team has overcome SO much adversity this season that they are mentally and emotionally prepared for the peaks and valleys that they will no doubt face in these playoffs. This is what separates this years Caps from the past 4 years… its the way that they are winning (defense, holding wins) in the face of adversity (injuries, mid season slump). This is a team that has finally arrived and will meet their destiny 4 years in the making.

Thanks Ted for building a team that we can get behind through thick and thin in our Nation’s Capital!

    GO CAPS!!!

  3. Congratulations to you, the team, and the entire Washington Capitals staff. We should all take stock in the accomplishments before beginning the “second season”. I have thoroughly enjoyed being a fan, and have enjoyed spectacular moments all season. No fan will forget the agony of December’s 8-game losing streak or the joy of the Winter Classic victory in Pittsburgh. To view Ovi’s season as off or less than expected is to ignore his greatest accomplishment: leading his team to 2nd place overall in his first full season as Captain-no small feat indeed. Let’s give the Captain his due for leading the team to these results (Alex IS #1 in GWG’s…) and get ready to cheer even louder as we prepare to Rock the Red deep into the playoffs!!

  4. While many were nay saying throughout this season even when chips were down I was disturbed at what was happening, yet never losing faith, always hopeful. The guys have proven once again they were worthy of the faith. I still don’t understand those who boo our home team, guess I never will.

I’m grateful for the wins these guys have posted on the ice and even more grateful for the wins they’ve given our community off the ice too. This core group or group as the whole have proven to be professionals and a worthy lot as well as an asset to the community. This of course includes the ownership all the way to the front office. A class act!

I guess what I’m trying to say is Thank You for EVERYTHING, on and off the ice!

just another season ticket holder enjoying a great franchise in a sport I love!

  5. I may criticize but (in my mind) they are justified. I also give credit when credit is due. Congrats to the entire Capitals organization on finishing first place in the Eastern Conference in 2011!
