Wish us luck.
A long and rebuilding season comes to an end.
I enjoyed reading this piece on Andray Blatche. It outlines his statistical improvement year over year. Facts are good.
As his game improved, so did our team’s chances of success on the court.
I am appreciative of his playing while injured. His commitment to help his teammates is commendable.
The team has bonded. They want to win every game and they don’t want the season to end. That is great to see.
Forget about the naysayers Mr. Leonsis. I don’t know why so many people are down on Blatche. I am glad we kept him and barring injury during his offseason(like last years foot episode) I believe he is going to have his best season. People forget he was hurt. Sometimes fans act as if these players are super heroes or something. They get hurt and it takes a while to get the body back into playing condition after being injured. He (blatche) just peaked late. Had he not been hurt, I think we would have saw this style of play from him earlier in the season. He is still maturing and people need to cut these players some slack. Hateful things are said about them on the blog and it affects some young guys negatively. I may talk about the team as a whole but I try to never tear down an individual in a blog. It is not productive. Believe it or not, they can read and so can their families. It is not helpful. Keep doing what you are doing. Keep hope alive and most of all… BE Happy!
Congrats on a well fought Caps game. I was watching them both. (the Wiz and the Caps)
Kevin…it’s called promoting Blatche. The question is, will a team trade for him? I’m not convinced.
Facts ARE good. Good facts are better.
Blatche’s per game stats SHOULD have improved every year year — check his minutes per game:
2006 – 6.0
2007 – 12.2
2008 – 20.4
2009 – 24.0
2010 – 27.9
2011 – 34.1
Per minute stats are more better:
2006 – 13.4 pts per 36 min; 7.8 reb; .410 efg
2007 – 10.9 p36; 10.1 reb; .447 efg
2008 – 13.3 pts; 9.1 reb; .474 efg
2009 – 15.1 pts; 8.0 reb; .471 efg
2010 – 18.2 pts; … 8.1 reb; .478 efg
2011 – 17.7 pts; 8.7 reb; .444 efg
Good news is that his shooting is likely to get back to that .475-ish range of previous years. Bad news is that league average efg is about .500 most years (.498 this season).
I am now nervous you are going to keep Blatche around just to spite the naysaying fans. Signs of Danny Snyder in Monumental Sports these days…
Please stop attempting to sell us on this improved Wiz team. Selling the fanbase on the last 10 games of a 20 win season is NOT showing your appreciation for us gutting it out. Cut your losses and look forward to next season. Remember, you inherited this team, you did not build it. There is only 1 clear cut NBA starter on our roster right now.
