It was an exciting day – unveiling our red, white and blue Wizards uniforms, showcasing our new marks and seeing so many alumni in attendance. It was special. I want to thank Mrs. Pollin and others for their kind words.
What they are saying about the Wizards’ new look …
“I am absolutely delighted by the newly unveiled Wizards uniforms. The return to a red, white and blue color scheme is a wonderful way to celebrate the past while looking towards the future. The revamped logos are a strong, favorable and natural evolution of the Wizards brand, and I applaud Ted Leonsis for bringing this refreshing, yet familiar look back for Wizards fans of all ages to enjoy. My heart is still with you – go Wizards!”
- Mrs. Irene Pollin, former Wizards owner
“I think it’s awesome…I think it’s great, and I think that as silly and trivial as it sounds, the red Capitals jerseys went hand in hand with their success…so I think this a huge, significant moment.”
- Dan Steinberg, Washington Post
“The NBA team unveiled its new red, white and blue color scheme and uniforms Tuesday, a blast from the past that was overwhelmingly welcomed as long overdue.”
- Joseph White, Associate Press
“I think that all of a sudden, it’s a great reconnect. I think Ted has really reached out to the former players to reconnect. He’s bringing the players back into an organization where they have many wonderful memories and wonderful thoughts here in Washington D.C.” - Elvin Hayes, NBA Hall-of-Famer and Bullets legend
“It’s like an old-school type jersey. I wish last year we could have worn it. It’s unique. We’re the nation’s capital team, so why not be red, white and blue?” – John Wall, Wizards Point Guard
“It’s hard not to like the Wizards’ new uniforms, either. The red, white and blue color scheme was a foregone conclusion, even before guests to yesterday’s festivities were greeted by a sea of red, white and blue balloons in the hallway…but the Wizards’ one NBA title came in red, white and blue.”
- Tracee Hamilton, Washington Post
“Love Wizards new red, white and blue unis.”
- Marc Spears, Yahoo! Sports via Twitter
“Ted Leonsis’s approval ratings just went off the chart. The home uniforms are so beautiful they make me weep.”
- DC Sports Bog

Ted,
Very well done with the new unis and branding, congratulations! You definitely “get it”. As a lifelong Caps fan, I hope they can break through in the next few years and deliver you a championship. Stay the course. Some changes are needed, but a massive overhaul would be an overreaction and counterproductive. Any chance some of the Wizards lettering elements could be blended into the Capitals unis, as well? The extra details in the letters make a difference. And it would be great if the Washington in the Caps logo would look like the one in the Wizards logo (the monument point on the h is fantastic). Will “Rock the Red” be brought over to Wizards games, too? I’m not a basketball fan in general, but will definitely enjoy watching the transformation of the Wizards and cheering for them along the way. Thanks for your stewardship of these important regional institutions.
Sincerely,
Josh
Great! But last time I checked, uniforms don’t win championships. The players inside them do. You’ve proven to be a great marketer Ted. Once again Caps fail. Hope the Wizards have more success in the playoffs. Keep trying with the same management and coaching and “core” players. Maybe “next year” is a better slogan for the teams.
To Mr. Ted Leonsis,
On behalf of the fans in the DC Area. I congragulate you on your vision on bringing the past back to Washington. With you did with the Capitals four years ago by bringing back the red, white, and blue. I believe when you purchased the Wizards last June, you would return the red, white, and blue to our beloved basketball team. Your vision is the exact thing fans need in Washington. You think like a fan, your innovative thinking is the reason why fans in Washington like you. You know how to build a winning team, your style of patience is what we need as owner. You know how to bring people that want to be a winner. I am exicted that change is coming to our sports teams. Now all teams in Washington have red such as the Capitals, Mystics, Nationals, and the Redskins. I hope you continue the success in our sports teams with the Wizards, Mystics, and Capitals. Now it is time to build a winning team to Washington. I like the foundation of bringing young talent by building through the draft, getting younger and younger, showing teams around the league this is how you really build a team through the long term. I think the Wizards will really suprise the league by winning game. I applaud you through your innovative ways of setting a new chapter in DC. Good luck with the draft lottery, and the upcoming season (if there is not a lockout). Go Wizards, Go Mystics, and Go Capitals.
