212,000 in 0.6 seconds

That is the number of articles that mention a rumored player development – Jagr coming to Washington, DC.

212,000 stories into the Google algorithm.

All originated by two or three stories. All three stories written on blogs. None of the authors of the story called or emailed me or us for a quote or for info. The stories were re-tweeted or rerun verbatim and caused great traffic and interest. An amazing “pixelated” journey. The virality of the story here is something to see.

Thus a week was spent by us responding to fans and the industry and to employees regarding the story. There wasn’t a moment of contemplation regarding this development by us. Zero truth. Zero facts.

I did a five word blog post that essentially stopped the story from spreading. I was forced to do it.

Why not call or email me next time? Thank you. This is a good case history on the power and responsibility of the blogosphere. 212,000 listing into the Google algorithm. All called up in 0.6 seconds. It has to be true? :-)

Off Season Moves

You will see some. It is the nature of the league, the team and the business.

We will always recraft the team to try to improve and to become a better team come playoff time.

I endorse our trade at the draft. I thought we were smart at this time to make this move as we have plenty of young prospects and young players fighting to make the team.

I also am very happy to have Olie back in the fold. His experience and competition level will help us a lot I believe.

We now move on to free agency. We want to keep some players. We want to sign some players. Wish us well in all of our pursuits.

And then don’t be surprised if you see some trades. It takes two to tango. We want to change and improve. We are getting ready for a new season which is fast approaching.

Go Caps! Thank you.
