Happy Father’s Day

Here is a history of Father’s Day. Founded in 1908 in West Virginia as a memorial to men who lost their lives in a mining accident.

Then it institutionalized as a bumper day to go along with Mother’s Day. Creating an industry for florists, greeting cards and the necktie industries. Being a Dad is job one for me.

My favorite moment: receiving a really garish and tight to wear t- shirt that said “World’s Greatest Dad” made by my daughter.

Happy Father’s Day All!

Over The Top Passion

Congratulations to the Boston Bruins and to their fans and their ownership.

A Stanley Cup Championship. Wow! A Cup! I lived in Boston the last time the team won a Stanley Cup and I know how the community will react. It will be over the top and a love fest! Several of my relatives are beside themselves today with joy and happiness over this long awaited win.

It was sad to see the reaction in the streets of Vancouver last night. Rioting as well as fans getting injured because of a loss in the seventh game of the finals. The Canucks had a fantastic season and their fans must be proud of the team and their players. That was a noble and hard fought final series.

Hockey brings out such strong passions in its fan base. Some good and some not so good.

Safety and security is our number one deliverable in sports for our fans.

Peace.

Olie Back in the House!

I am so pleased to welcome back Dave Prior as our chief goaltending coach. He is a real talent and very experienced in helping young goaltenders to develop. I would also like to thank Arturs Irbe for his remarkable stint as a goaltending coach for us as well these last two seasons.

I am so very excited to welcome into the coaching ranks Olie Kolzig. Olie is an all-time great Washington Capital. He is a man of high integrity, skill and experience. He took us to the playoffs on so many occasions; helped us to get to the Stanley Cup Finals; won a Vezina Trophy; and will help inject very high levels of competition into our goaltenders and our team in general!

Olie is back. We are happy and thrilled and he and Dave will team to be a great tandem of coaches for our young goaltenders. This is a smart move by our team and it will be great to see both Dave and Olie at Kettler Capitals Iceplex for Development Camp in July.
