Are you not entertained?

Now that was a goofy yet fun game.

10 goals scored; a shootout win for the Caps. Double wings all around, I guess.

We didn’t play very well; did we?

We didn’t execute well on power plays. We took too many penalties.

We had shaky first time goal tending from our off season signing ; we took two too many men on the ice penalties – one in OT! Our goal tending will be very good this season I believe and I am happy Vokoun got the win! As he said in the locker room after the game, “I am accustomed to playing well and losing; I didn’t play well tonight and I got the win; I thank my team mates!”.

We were down a goal 4 times.

Our third and fourth lines played well and kept us in the game. Our defense played well too.

We kept coming; and we kept playing hard – we never quit.

It is only game 2 of a long season. 80 games left to play.

I am happy we got the two points.

Everyone knows we have lots of work to do to tighten up everywhere.

Thanks for enjoying the game and we feel fortunate to have the 2 points.

Two games in – two games where the outcome wasn’t decided to the final moments. Phew…hockey is such a great game. Go Caps!

“First to one billion wins”

That is something I said a long time ago at an AOL all hands meeting.

One billion unique visitors.

One billion page views per month.

One billion down loads.

One billion users.

Like McDonalds…billions and billions served!

We have progressed so far as an industry.

Here is Google Earth – it has just been down loaded for the one billionth time. Click here – add to the community.

Google has a billion unique visitors around the world.

Facebook will too soon I assume.

I know Clearspring and its Addthis piece of chrome has 1 billion monthly unique visitors too.

Amazing social acceptance.

Figure 2.2 billion people around the world connected to the Internet. 200 million or so in the United States. A global phenomenon. Google earth makes the world seem smaller.

Lights – Camera – Social Action

Here is a story from CNBC on “Filmanthropy” and some work being done in this new field. A field that I think is an important new category of filmmaking, social media, sharing and self-expression. SnagFilms is a big player in this field as is the leader, Participant Media and Jeff Skoll.

I remember when a business network on cable television was thought of as a wild idea. I remember when CNBC was the Financial News Network filled with infomercials and screaming wild-eyed hosts before NBC acquired it.

Things change. Skeptics’ opinions will change. It is all a matter of time. And of us remaining committed to this mission and cause and making it a double bottom line business, a business that does well by doing good.

So far so good on our end. Read this one. Thank you.
