The passing of Steve Jobs is a deeply personal moment for so many people and for me.
He was only 56 years old. Life is short. His commencement speech at Stanford dwelled on this issue. You should watch it sometime – it was true genius.
I first met Steve Jobs in 1979. More than half my life ago!
Pretty much all of my professional life had Steve Jobs in the cloud; he and Apple were always there.
I love his products. I love his company.
He will be missed.
Watch this film. See what he created.
I am very sad today.
Steve Jobs was a giant.
His passing feels like a gigantic wake up call for so many people.
As Apple bumper stickers once proclaimed – ” The journey is the reward”.
RIP Steve Jobs.
Recently we were represented by Monique Currie and Ed Tapscott (who joined former Redskin Shawn Springs) at a panel discussion for students in Georgetown University’s Sports Industry Management program. The panel discussed their respective experiences regarding the value of communications and media relations. What a great real-world learning experience for the future leaders of our industry. We had media day for the Washington Capitals.
I didn’t attend it.
The focus should be on the team – the players and the coaching staff.
There will be lots of stories; lots of drama – lots of angst – lots of joy – lots of pixels generated as we enter this new season. Here is a bunch of stuff from the Washington Post as an example. Thank you as I am appreciative of the coverage we get in this important local news medium.
There are great expectations on our team; we are what our record says we are.
We are one of the few franchises to qualify for the playoffs 4 years in a row; we need to keep our focus on the regular season so that we can qualify for the playoffs again.
That is our focus to start the new season. We must qualify for the playoffs.
If we do – then we can discuss other goals. It concerns me greatly when I hear that making the playoffs is a given; nothing is given – everything is earned.
Time to get the regular season started. See you all on Saturday night. I am so very grateful for your ongoing support. Go Caps!
