On Hockey and Fighting

Versus team toughness and the role of enforcers.

A good read here, I think another issue is that come playoff time – team toughness matters in a big way – but that the role of a true enforcer is minimized.

No team wants fighting major penalties in the playoffs. No team wants to instigate fights and serve big penalty minutes in the playoffs.

This is a subject worthy of debate – the trends of late in the NHL speak pretty clearly right now. Fighting is down in the NHL.

Team toughness matters. Read this one. Thank you.

INDIEWIRE Redesign

New platform and technology infrastructure here; click away and take it for a tour.

New design. New user interface.

New sections.

New look and feel, and fonts.

I like it.

Crisp and clean.

Indiewire is an important medium and platform for our industry.

I promised the founders when they sold the property to us that we would take good care of it – we would invest in it and continue to celebrate film makers and this indy film culture.

Indiewire is a part of SnagFilms.

I am proud of this work. Thank you to the team, led by CEO Rick Allen, thank you to David Gang and his team at Perfect Sense Digital for the great design touch and new platform introduction.

Enjoy it – read it every day. Thank you.

Dallas Has a Better Record Than Us

They have 20 points in the standings to our 18. They are first in their division.

They are young; they are fast – they play great defense; and they have a goal tender that has come into his prime.

Tonight will be a very tough game. I look forward to seeing you all at Verizon Center – wear red if you can; let us have some fun, be loud and proud. Thank you – Go Caps!

What Have We Learned

We have struggled twice this season against very energetic young teams with high levels of team speed.

When we come into town; as a visitor; a young team really “gets up” to play us.Beating us is an important milestone – we should empathize as we were once a young team; and an up and coming team with team speed; and a young roster. Beating good teams is how you earn respect in the NHL; and gain confidence.

We have to play a full 60 minutes; and stay out of the box – against these young, up and coming teams; with team speed.

Live and learn.

We split a back to back weekend road trip. One good win – one not so good loss.

Onward to Tuesday’s game at home. Thank you.
