Happy Thanksgiving Caps Fans

We have a lot to be grateful for and I am appreciative for all of our gifts.

It was wonderful to be amongst friends and family last night. We were treated to a fun evening of hockey. Two determined teams played hard and battled into overtime. The Caps win and get two points. A two game winning streak. We have 12 wins and 25 points 20 games into the season. We are five games over 500.

We are in the middle of the pack now in the NHL and in 12th place – two wins behind having the best record in the league and only a couple of points into the playoff picture. That is how tight the NHL is right now and why looking at the standings after 20 games will drive you crazy!

We survived the first quarter of a new season. We deflected some nasty pixels along the way. We earned praise. We earned criticism. We earned it all. That is for sure.

We had a nice, long winning streak.

We had a bad set of games.

We are playing well at home.

We have not played as well on the road.

Our special teams play needs work. We are breaking in a lot of change into our line-up from last season. We are playing two rookies. We are overcoming some key injuries.

We have a lot to be grateful for and I wanted to thank our fans for their time, attention, passion, emails and focus. And overall support. And ongoing face to face critiques.

Last night at the game a season ticket holder came to the Owner’s Box asking to see me. She was very nice and had specific complaints about the lines in the men’s bathroom on the upper level. She was concerned that perhaps we didn’t have enough urinals or that the design of the bathrooms weren’t well thought out. I promised I would go and take another look at the bathroom design. She was quite passionate and direct about this concern.

We also had a customer complain to us last night that there weren’t enough ATM machines at the arena. We will ask Capital One bank to review.

And another season ticket holder suggested that we have a separate beer only stand on the first concourse. The stand that serves both beer and mixed drinks have lines that were too long because of the time and attention it takes to mix a cocktail.

We are on it all. We care. We are grateful. We thank you all.

Enjoy the day.

We hope to see you all on Friday at a tough game a coming against the NY Rangers. Go Caps!

Public Spotlight

It can be harsh.

It can be unforgiving.

It can be critical.

It is all pixels all the time.

It can be over whelming at times.

It can sting.

It can be humiliating.

It comes with the territory.

A great man once said – “Never explain – never complain”.

Sometimes I must be honest – I am too tired to even try to read it all; there is too much there, there! Link love can be smothering!

We have a game to play tonight – one of 82 on our regular season schedule; a game right before Thanksgiving; a game that is sold out. Full of energy for the home team!

We all have a lot to be grateful for – I hope to have a fun time tonight at the game. I hope you will too – I hope we play well and that we win; for you our fans. Should we win this evening; we would join other division leaders with 12 wins.

It ain’t that bad; it isn’t as good as we want. I have empathy.

It is game 20 of a long season. After tonight – 62 games left to go.

Thank you for keeping it all in perspective. Go Caps!

7 -1 and 1 at home

That felt better – even though OUR power play was the Coyotes best friend last night!

Phoenix scored shorthanded and on a penalty shot – shorthanded. When did that happen before?

I am pleased the home town fans kept the energy level up high last night and the team rallied to post a 4 to 3 win and end a week of losses.

We now have 11 wins; no team has more than 12 wins in the NHL; there is true parity around the league and so many teams are all bunched up in the standings. Only San Jose has played less games than us. Florida is up on us in the division by a game – we have a game in hand.

Tight races all around. 2 more games this week at home.

We scored on a power play last night and we won the game – funny how that happens.

Thanks for the emails throughout the night – Go Caps!
