1. A subject which will always be open to debate, but I believe Ali’s claims of being the greatest not only demonstrate arrogance unbefitting of a champion athlete, but due as much to our short attention spans, general lack of interest in history, and incessant replays of a few memorable media sound bites, resulting in overlooking of more versatile champions, great sportsmen, and arguably more legitimate contenders for title of the greatest in the last century such as Jim Thorpe, “Babe” Didrikson Zaharias, Cal Ripken, Jr. or Lance Armstrong.
