Thank You DirecTV and Comcast SportsNet

As many of you know, Comcast SportsNet has been producing and distributing all Capitals and Wizards games in HD the past couple of seasons. Some providers, however, have been unable to carry our games in HD due to a variety of issues. One of the providers not offering CSN Plus programming in HD had been DirecTV – the largest satellite provider in the nation and one of the biggest video distributors in this region. Fortunately that will change Friday, Feb. 17, when the Wizards face the Utah Jazz (9 p.m. ET). That game – and all other Capitals and Wizards games on CSN Plus – now will be available in HD to DirecTV subscribers on Channel 643-1.

The Wizards and Capitals appear on CSN Plus when both teams play on the same day at the same time. There are 10 more games scheduled to air on CSN Plus (7 Wizards, 3 Capitals) this year. More may be scheduled in April.

DirecTV joins Comcast, Cox, Verizon, Dish Network and MetroCast in providing CSN Plus programming in HD to viewers in Maryland, Virginia and D.C. This gives CSN Plus almost full HD penetration in the Washington and Baltimore TV markets. There are a few smaller providers in the region still unable to carry the additional feed, but CSN is working with them to resolve the issue.

Ambassador Langway

I like the phrase and I love that Rod Langway is working with us in a formal manner.

As this article notes, Dale Hunter, Olie Kolzig, Peter Bondra and Rod Langway are all a part of the Caps family and are all committed to helping us to be more successful on and off the ice.

Rod Langway is a Hall of Fame player. I am glad to see he is spending more time back home in Washington DC. The fans love Rod. The franchise is grateful to Rod and the players all respect Rod for his career in the NHL and the way he played.

Caps today

I think we do a really good job in providing information about the Washington Capitals to our fans and influencers.

Our staff produces a daily caps today newsletter. Click here to see it, if you have the time.

I read it daily – would it be helpful and welcomed by you if I linked to this on my blog?

Or put it on my blog roll as a link to info?

Let me know. Thank you for caring so much.

A man of style and substance

Nat King Cole.

I only knew of Nat King Cole because I would hear my dad singing “Mona Lisa – Mona Lisa” to my mom – over dinner – when I was quite young.

My father would buy and play Nat King Cole records on weekends at our home. I would tease him because he liked Nat King Cole and Perry Como and Frank Sinatra – while I liked the Beatles and the Rolling Stones.

When I found this documentary on SnagFilms; I watched it – I learned a lot – but it also called up for me many positive and warm memories of my mom and dad.

Nat King Cole had class and a great voice.

Click here to hear him sing; and learn about his life and times. I am proud of SnagFilms for having a higher calling; finding films that matter – that educate and that can provoke very positive memories.

America’s Rabbi

I read this blog post – and found it to be very thought provoking and very timely.

I must say that I agree with this point of view. This is really well written.

Most of us feel we over celebrate some people and under recognize other folks; such as our men and women in the Military. We revel in the ups and downs of celebrities – and when a famous person dies – the coverage is spectacular.

I had no idea – as the writer outlines – how many men and woman we have lost of late in our actions overseas. Click here for details.

To recognize and show honor and thanks is one the key reasons we put the spot light on our brave and sometimes injured men and woman who have served us so well in the Military at Caps, Wizards and Mystics games. It is a tiny gesture, but it is authentic.

I know we can do even more. They are real life heroes – as are our police and fire fighters. And teachers.

Thank you to the Rabbi for encapsulating these ideas and thoughts so well.
