Komi

We celebrated my wife’s birthday last night in DC at Komi.

Komi is the number 1 rated dining establishment in the city as ranked by Washingtonian Magazine.

We now understand why!

Komi is small; intimate and quite diner friendly.

There are no menus; the chef chooses wisely and lets you sample plate after plate.

Small dishes – prepared with care – unique combos of tastes – original recipes; well served by very articulate staff. During the 2.5 hour experience last night we were served 16 different plates; the dish washers are the MVP’s at Komi!

You can tell the folks have worked together for a long time. They were a team; we were quite impressed. The service was seamless and professional and fun.

The chef is an artist. We have never had such a unique set of presentations and dishes served to us.

This was a one of a kind dining experience; there are only opportunities for 4 people at a table; they do not allow groups bigger than 4 to dine at Komi.

It is next to impossible to get a reservation; I tried for two years – and planned this dinner two months ahead of time.

If you want to plan a great night – a very unique dining experience – allot 2 to 3 hours. Plan ahead and go to Komi.

It deserved the accolades it has received. We loved it. Here is a link to their web site.

Thumbs Up for Graffiato

A new fun dining establishment is open across the street from Verizon Center on the 6th street side. It is called Graffiato and it is led by celeb chef Mike Isabella.

My family dined there this weekend. The place was buzzing at 6:30 pm. The bar downstairs was packed – in a good way – and the dining tables upstairs were also booked solid. A great sign!

The place is polished and casual. The plates are small. The Caesar salad was fantastic and the pizzas were to die for – thin real crust and great ingredients. Fresh and innovative.

The place will be rocking game nights before and after the games.

I am so pleased to see the 6th Street side of the arena start to come alive. Check it out. These folks are big fans of our teams as well. Show them some support. Thank you.

Cool New Place

My family and I dined at a great new place called Cava. It is on 8th Street in DC behind the Capitol Building. It is the best little new restaurant we have found of late.

The atmosphere was casual and cool. The service was fast, efficient and friendly. The food was spectacular. We ordered and tasted about one dozen little plates: A unique Greek salad; Greek pizza; and lamb sliders. The chef is very creative. The food is healthy. The plates are tasty and it is served in a unique fashion.

We live in such a great city. Places like this deserve our support. It was packed and buzzing last night and deservedly so. I shall return. You should check it out if you live in DC. Five stars from me!
