See the Real Thing

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

Hurt Locker was a powerful film. It was worthy of winning the Academy Award.

Here is a film about the real thing called “Occupation Dreamland”. It’s wonderful and powerful documentary. It is authentic, sad and moving. The real thing is equally as note worthy. Click here to watch this film!

OpEd News on Over Population

Monday, March 1st, 2010

Here is a good article on our planet’s challenges in dealing with over population.

It deals with pollution, lack of natural resources and food shortages . It also embeds a Snagfilms documentary called “Blind Spot” which is a great 86 minute film on this tough to discuss subject. Check it out here.

Weekend Viewing Pleasure

Friday, February 26th, 2010

Maybe this explains it.

The weather sure is weird lately in Vancouver. It is sunny and warm. In DC it is blizzard city this winter.

Here is an interesting film on the Arctic that tries to explain our interconnected system.

I liked this film very much. It was clear, concise and made me a bit smarter on issues such as global warming and new weather patterns. Watch it this weekend.

Wal-Mart Buys VUDU

Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010

VUDU is a digital movie streaming and downloading service. Consumers more and more want to watch films on their computers or on their HD televisions sets in their own living rooms. TV’s and PC’s are merging and blurring. When Wal-Mart enters the market it has certainly gone main stream.

One of the reasons I created Snagfilms was to take advantage of this convergence and to make good work film ubiquitous to large audiences.

I think we have positioned Snagfilms quite well. In 18 months of service we are now streaming literally tens of millions of minutes per month of films to millions of consumers. We are helping Indie film makers. We are helping charities and we are helping consumers and bloggers to self express.

We are an independent company that is trying to do well by doing good. We have a double bottom line and are competing against giant corporations.

Support us today by watching films on Snagfilm and by grabbing a film widget and showing films to your friends. Help us be David to these Goliaths. Small is beautiful.

The Tenth Planet

Saturday, February 20th, 2010

Here is an important and powerful film, The Tenth Planet. It is a new premiere film on SnagFilms.com.

It is a  true to life female perspective about life in Baghdad and a perspective that is authentic and unique and not one that mainstream media reports to us on a daily basis via the news. I enjoyed this film a lot. I learned a lot as well.
