Random Weekend Thoughts on Many Subjects

Twas great to see that BOTH Alex Ovechkin and Mike Green were named first team All Stars  by the Sporting News.  Click here to see the voting and lineup.  I don’t think the Washington  Capitals have ever had two  players in the top six first team All Stars in the league in our history as a franchise — so kudos to our young core of players for being recognized by the experts and the league itself.

This vote follows on the news of Alex Ovechkin being voted NHL player of the  year in the NHL — which I provided a link to the story last week. Continue reading

Thanks Cinematical for including “Nanking” on SnagFilms in your editorial lineup.  Click here to read all about it.

The film is now being viewed all over the world — for free — via the web. As I once noted — you don’t have to steal this film to see it — just go to SnagFilms.com and watch it as much as you want — trade it with your friends — share it — embed it and put it on your page — link it in an email — steal this film in this manner — it will feel good.  I am talking to you — all Chinese students –  bloggers and media — please take this film:-). !

At yesterday’s Peabody Awards ceremony — it was noted how much media attention was focused on China — and how many media projects were recognized for excellence this year for work around China as a subject.  Click here to  read an article excellence in media with China as key subject matter.

Return to Red Beach

This is a very moving film — a very compelling reason to watch is the upcoming Memorial Day weekend — “Return to Tarawa” is a great film.  It is a must see.

These films are constant reminders of the heroism of our armed forces in protecting our freedoms.  The price paid — the lives lost — the fierce pride in protecting our families and our liberties.  Clean up this beach — protect and enhance our memories!

SnagFilms on Fortune.com

Check out this great piece on SnagFilms on Fortune.com.

I am so proud of how well SnagFilms is scaling and helping film makers and charities.

I was also so proud  to receive a Peabody Award today — in NYC — thank you HBO for your  support of this film.

And if I can name drop — I got a chance to hang out today with Wolf Blitzer and John King of CNN; Brian Williams of NBC; Laura Linney from John Adams; Earl the Pearl Monroe; and many other luminaries from the tv and media — and film  business.

Who Ya Got? Mega Shark or Giant Octopus?

I try never to miss a Lorenzo Lamas/Deborah Gibson blockbuster summer film and this one promises to be the biggest hit of the year. The writing, acting and production value of this film promises to blow Star Trek off the map.

Check out this trailer. See the best Hollywood has to offer. See a shark eat the Golden Gate Bridge. Stare in awe. Go Lorenzo, Go.

State Of Play?

No, it is NOT what you are thinking.

To take my mind off of things, my family and I went to the movies to see State of Play.

I give it a very positive rating. The cast was one of the best I have seen in a film in a long while. The acting was terrific and it is always a treat to see so many local sites highlighted in a DC based story. Production value in the film was top notch and I enjoyed the story even if it was another “Politicians are bad - business people are bad - news journalists are good” themed screenplay.

Watchmen – Wow!

Wow! That is all I can say after seeing this film. Amazing production values; amazing story; amazing acting; psychedelic trippy animation; and a script that I didn’t get but I couldn’t NOT watch every scene. The film is agonizingly long but it is a must see. It will be a cult favorite as well as a very popular film with the youth market.

The film is mind-blowing and an event. Check out this info on Wikipedia too for more information on the film. Wow!
