Farther Than The Eye Can See

Friday, November 6th, 2009

Here is a great film — an inspirational film — a film about over coming great odds — to scale the highest summits.

I have met Erik — he was a key note speaker at an AOL all hands meeting; he is an amazing person — an amazing athlete.

Check this out — if he can do this — you can do anything you set your mind on.  Go for it! Watch this film now — snag it and embed it — share it with your friends.

His All Holiness and VP Biden

Thursday, November 5th, 2009

I was unable to watch the Capitals game last night–although I was getting texts with score updates throughout the night.

My wife and I were invited to an event at Vice President Biden’s home — with His All Holiness Bartholomew I.

It was a very special night for us — Bartholomew is the leader of the Orthodox Church on a global basis; he is a holy man — he is also called the “Green Archbishop” as he has been an outspoken critic of polluters of our planet for many years.

Lynn and I were honored to be able to spend quality time with VP Biden; his wife — Dr Biden; and the Biden family; I also was ” blessed” personally by Bartholomew and I mentioned Alex Ovechkin to him; and there was a special prayer offered in his name as well!

While it was a wonderful night — and I feel blessed — the Caps did lose and I did learn that our VP is a Flyers fan.  I was tempted to start the DC based chant about the Flyers — but bit my tongue.  Not the right venue at all:-).

Here is information on Bartholomew I.  A most impressive and great man, indeed.

The Queen

Monday, September 21st, 2009

Guess who sat next to us at dinner on last night at Cafe Milano here in DC?

Helen Mirren - The Queen; the Academy Award winner; actress; and a woman of grace and style. She floated into the place. Everyone stopped talking and stared. She is regal and quite nice. She is in town for a while performing at the Shakespeare Theatre.

I wanted to invite her to tonight’s Washington Capitals game but my wife kicked me under the table at that notion.

The “Reckoning” Didn’t Take

Saturday, August 29th, 2009

DJ AM was found dead — it appears that he may have taken his own life — via a drug over dose.

I am very surprised at this news — DJ AM had a ” reckoning”; he survived a plane crash two years ago — he walked away burned and scared — but he was alive and had a second chance on life. Usually when people get this ” mulligan” on life — they dedicate themselves to finding meaning in their remaining time here on Earth — and they work and search to find happiness and to leave more than they take. Silly Significant Milestone

Saturday, August 29th, 2009

Big man on campus. All DC sports fans were able to vote via the Washington Post and even hard core Redskins fans could vote via Extremeskins.com and they both chose to vote for Alex Ovechkin as DC’s most popular athlete. (more…)

Teddy and Me

Friday, August 28th, 2009

I was fortunate to know Senator Kennedy for more than 30 years — we shared geography — (Boston — DC and Florida) as mutual touch points — we shared a love of Georgetown and the Jesuits and the Shriver family ,too.

Ted Kennedy was a very funny man. Warm — twinkle in the eye. A hugger.  And he never missed an opportunity to ask for something — a donation to a charity — an internship request for someone; a recommendation to Georgetown for someone else — and he always dropped you a line — a personal hand written letter as follow up. Dream Machine

Friday, August 28th, 2009

I need one of these — I can’t sleep — I am always restless.

Here is fun weekend viewing — a psychedelic drama — a great documentary that will blow your mind.  You can’t make this stuff up — “Flicker” rocks — expand your mind — drink the cool aid — get into that Woodstock state of mind, man.  Click here — dream on.
