Ted, I have been a Caps season ticket holder since 1992 and hopeful that we are close to winning the cup. It is a lifetime dream of mine to attend a parade in DC for our Capitals!
The real reason for my note is to thank you for the inspiration you have given me to find happiness becoming involved in charitable organizations. After reading your book, The Business of Happiness, I began to reevaluate my life. I am the president of a successful insurance brokerage in Fairfax, Va., and give financially to many charities both domestic and international. As you have also experienced, just donating money doesn’t give the true happiness that we all are searching for. Donating money is a part of it, but donating your time to help change the lives of the less fortunate is an unbelievable fulfilling life experience. Your book inspired me to raise more than $25,000 for our summer camp, Camp Invention, which will allow more than 100 underprivileged children to attend this week long camp in Anacostia.
Invent Now, who runs Camp Invention, conducted more than 1,400 summer camps throughout the country last year with more than 75,000 students attending. Most of these students, however, are in affluent suburbs.
I wanted to thank you again for sharing with me your life experiences. Also, I bought 12 copies of your book and mailed them to all who donated to our camp. Hopefully they will find it as inspirational as I did.
Go Cappies!
Ted – I am completely in awe of the degree of assistance you provided to the man who was homeless. What a wonderful feeling to see someone’s life transformed by your kindness. I am so inspired by you. Thank you! You are the best!
Hi! I found the right address! I will also send a little e-mail to the foundation e-mail posted on the website. You should get it next week, since I just missed the cut-off for Fed Ex.
