Wizards Season About to Start

Best of luck and best wishes to Mr. Abe Pollin and the Washington Wizards. We are very happy partners in this NBA franchise and we believe in the team and its management. The team has become a perennial playoff team and is very popular with its fan base and around the league. They are a gritty and tough team having to overcome lots of injuries year after year.

The team starts the year without two starters but we are all optimistic that we can play well; qualify for the playoffs; get Gilbert Arenas back into the lineup; and compete for a NBA crown.

Wizards Open Camp

The Washington Wizards are the most successful of our local sports franchises as defined by won– loss record and playoff appearances over the last 5 years. The team has been consistently good for four years and has just had the bad fortune of too many injuries at exactly the wrong time.

I am hopeful that Gilbert Arenas does make his comeback before year’s end– and that the team has time to gel before the playoffs begin; I believe in this team and I know Mr. Pollin and everyone in the organization is trying to win a championship. Mr. Pollin has built a consistent playoff caliber team and he has a ring and the title of a “world champion”; that is the goal that everyone of us in local sports ownership wants to have– until we all can build consistent playoff caliber teams and win a championship– Mr. Pollin has to be known as ” the best owner in sports in DC”; he gets my vote.

Great Game and White Out

I went to the Wizards playoff game last night with Steve Case, Donn Davis and General Colin Powell. We all sat in the dream seats right on the floor next to the Wizards bench. It was a great environment and the team held a white out. They put white t-shirts on every single seat in the arena. It was a very cool sight to behold when you first walked into the game.

I spent some time with Mr. and Mrs. Pollin before the game started. Abe told me he thought the Wizards would come out strong and play good team basketball to get back into the series and he was right. The Wizards won big time!

When we play unselfish team basketball; rebound; and go to the hoop to draw fouls, the Wizards are as good as any team in the East.

It is clear that Gilbert Arenas is still recovering from his surgeries and that he is a great teammate. He was on the bench extolling his teammates on after he left the game with a small ding in his leg. Also, it was fun to watch LeBron James come down the court and stop and shake General Powell’s hand while the game was still going on.

I was also very humbled by the number of people that came up to me during the game to say “Great season!” and “Thanks for building such a fun team to watch!” Thank you so much.
