Check this out. Amazon is already packaging up my book The Business of Happiness with Bruce’s book called Gabby: Confessions of a Hockey Lifer.
My book hasn’t even shipped yet and already their inference engines are already recommending these books to a similar audience. They are amazing marketers. Kudos Amazon.
I believe my book will be marketed to a business audience; a self-improvement and self-help audience; and a sports-related audience.
No. We don’t want Bruce to have his own show on the radio.
We want Bruce to be himself and to be all about hockey; the team; and enjoy his life and body of work.
One more win and he hits the century mark, 100 wins, which is the fastest in team history. He is a great coach - a player’s coach – and a good man.
Bruce, George McPhee, Dick Patrick and everyone associated with our team has only one goal in mind: Do whatever it takes to win a Stanley Cup. If Bruce thinks he is having fun now, wait ’til he hoists a Cup!
And thanks Dan for remembering us. Good to see you writing about the Washington Capitals again. Go Caps!
Thanks for this nice article. Sometimes it is better to be lucky than good and winning the lottery was a great piece of luck. But George and Dick did great work in recrafting the team to be ready for the new NHL. The trades for prospects and picks were the right ones to follow and they executed it all very well. We are a young team still with upside and with great prospects awaiting their turn as well. It is a great time to be a fan of the Washington Capitals. Go Caps!

Bruceeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Can’t make this stuff up.
I was at the Wizards game last night with my wife. We ran into Alex Ovechkin and his dad. I spoke to Alex a bit about the season so far, the schedule and the team.
Alex said, ”I love coach. He is honest, loyal and knows the game. He doesn’t tell me anything about offense though only about I must play D and cover the middle.” He then smiled and said, “Bruceeee!!!!!!!”
When the best player in the world respects a coach that is a good sign and part of a great partnership.
Mike Wise wrote a good piece here. Check it out and go say, “Bruceee!!!!!”
Oh yeah, the real and first “Bruceee!” is playing at Verizon Center this Monday night. Think I will invite coach to the show.
So right before the first game that Bruce is coaching at home, I walk into the hallway near the locker room. Coach comes out from a meeting and bumps right into me.
He says, “Err…hi – how you doing?”
I say, “You wired up yet?”
He says, “What do you mean?”
We just came back from seeing the re-imagined Star Trek film — and I must say I enjoyed it as did every member of my family. Paramount has a new — tent pole — series now — this film series will become epic — ala Harry Potter or the Batman franchises — kudos to JJ Abrams for doing great directorial duties; the story held together and the CGI didn’t overwhelm the character development. Star Trek is great summer entertainment fun — and at the heart of the story was a new element called “Red Matter“; when it first appeared — I heard a young man sitting three rows ahead of us in the theatre say — “Lets Go Caps”. That made my day. Red Matter was also central in blowing up the world and starting all over. Continue reading
You deserve all of your success. Getting a Hall of Fame nod in the AHL is a wonderful experience. Bask in it.
OK, get back to work. Go Caps!
Here is a cool blog post showing respect for the coaching profession. Well done.
Here is a very nice piece in USA Today on our coach. He is one of a kind and we are lucky to have him serve so well in our franchise.
