I Met Michael aka “Tattoo Guy” at the Caps Convention

He is a very nice young man and a true passionate Caps fan.

He truly does have 23 tattoos and as he noted, “I am skinny and THAT was painful! I have bled for this team.”

He has some spaces that have yet to be completed. I suggested he sell naming rights!

Michael is a fine young man with lots of Caps focus and passion and attention when he isn’t working 9 to 5.

I am proud of Caps fans. This show of support was above and beyond the call of duty! But thank you so much and it was great to meet you Michael. Go Caps!

Thank You Again for Saturday

We all enjoyed the Caps Convention. It was wonderful to host it so close to Verizon Center.

It was also great to meet so many fans; sign autographs; and get my picture taken with you. I am also blessed to hear so many of you had read my book The Business of Happiness.

We will work on the acoustics for our panel sessions. Several of you had that input to me face to face yesterday.

Comment away and let me know what you liked and what we can do better for next year’s convention.

Thanks in advance for the input.

Pledges

Here is a nice slide show of images from the wonderful Caps Convention this past Saturday. Check them out here on On Frozen Blog.

Someone asked me on Saturday if I would commit to them that we would do the Caps Convention on an annual basis. I responded that we would have to get perspective first on how this one went and listen to our fan base about how to improve before we could make any decisions. That got me to thinking about commitment and pledges.

So herewith my pledges to you:

  • We will always operate the team as if it is a public trust. It is our job and responsibility to hold a mirror up to our community and be a reflection of the best of our fan base;
  • We will always strive to be transparent and open and communicate often and honestly with our fan base;
  • We will be interactive and high tech/high touch as an organization;
  • We will always remain humble and hungry and sweat all of the details;
  • We will be first class in all of our efforts. We will do less things but the things we do undertake as a franchise will be world class in execution;
  • We will adhere to a system and a plan and stick with our strategy;
  • We will strive for continuity and harmony;
  • We will strive to offer value in all offerings to our fans. We seek ” Happiness” as a state of mind and being for our fan base;
  • We will be an innovator and leader in our marketing and customer relations efforts;
  • We will work hard to keep our team together so we can ice a great team for a long time;
  • We will only be focused as an organization on winning the Stanley Cup. We have a singular goal.

Thank you to all of our fans who attended the Caps Convention this weekend. Thank you to all of our fans who can’t wait for the new season to start. We have our hands full to meet expectations this season. Might as well go out and see what we are made of. Drop the puck – let’s go! Go Caps!

Capitals Convention

Thanks to all of you who visited and spent so much time at the Capitals Convention on Saturday.

I know I met at least 2,000 people personally; got my picture taken with thousands of you; and signed autograph after autograph. I did my best to mingle and meet you all. I was exhausted at the end of the day but had a great time. I am very appreciative of the people that want to meet me and humbled when you ask for my autograph. I only stopped mingling when I had to go to the men’s room and I even signed some autographs in the bathroom, too!

I would like to thank Gary Bettman and Bill Daly for coming down to our convention on a Saturday from NYC. They made great presentations; mingled with our fans and media; and worked hard on our behalf. I thought Mr. Bettman did a great job in our keynote speech at 10:00 am and was very candid and honest on a number of tough subjects.
