Down on the Farm

Kudos to the Hershey Bears

They are starting to play quite well again, are presently second in the AHL is terms of points.

They won last night 6 to 0 – over a rival; had great goal tending; Cody Eakin scored two goals and the defense is also wheeling and dealing and adding to the scoring and shots on goal.

Well done and thank you – read this story if you are so inclined.

Youth and Age!

Injuries take their toll.

We are only ten games in this season. We already have had John Erskine – Tom Poti and Mike Green out from our blue line with injury.

We have a very sore Troy Brouwer – and Jay Beagle on IR.

It almost always seems that the team that is healthiest has the best chance of winning.

From this though grows opportunity for young players to gain experience – see this article.

Welcome Cody Eakin.

We have 4 young centers now in our line up. All drafted and developed by us. And a vet center – Jeff Halpern who we also drafted. And Brooks Laich – who is signed long term – who we got in trade if you can believe it for Peter Bondra.

We have a great young prospect who plays center – Evgeny Kuznetsov – that we drafted with a first round pick – waiting in the wings.

We now have lots of centers. This is such great news for us as a franchise.

Youth and Age. On Dump and Chase. Thank you.

More News On Young Prospects

Our staff is very impressed with two young center prospects, one of them in Cody Eakin.

We are drafting and developing multiple young centers now.

That is a tough position to fill.

Backstrom will be here for years.

Marcus Johansson looks like he could develop into a very good center.

Cody Eakin too.

And there are others as well.

We have done a very good job of managing our salary cap and of developing young players to make our line-up now and to have even younger players ready to make the team in the out years creates real competition.

And ups the pace and tempo at camp. Everyone has to look over their shoulder.

And everyone plays hard in preseason games.

We are 2-0 after winning on Saturday night in Nashville 2 to 1.
