Here is a nice blog post about DC United and the words of support they mention about the Washington Capitals and Washington Mystics. Thank you. I believe a rising tide raises all boats. We want DC United to be winners off the field too. They are a class organization and soccer is “the beautiful game”.

Go Will Go
Tuesday, June 2nd, 2009PG United
Friday, February 13th, 2009Wow, big news here from DC United. There is a new planned stadium and move out to Prince George’s County. A new world class facility will do wonders for the team’s viability and economics.
In this economy, creating a private public partnership is a smart and savvy move. We will miss DC United if they move but a new stadium and world class real estate development is needed to kick start the growth of MLS here in our area. Kudos to DC United if they can get this legislation passed and break ground on new digs.

MLSnet on Kicking It
Wednesday, August 13th, 2008Here is a very nice write-up on “Kicking It” and The Homeless World Cup. The folks at DC United and MLS have been a joy to work with. They are very connected to their communities and understand the power of sports to transform lives.
ESPN will start showing “Kicking It” in September. I will update you on the programming times once they are available. I hope those of you who didn’t see the film at a festival or in a theater will watch it for free on TV.
End Sermon
Monday, June 30th, 2008Thanks to DC United for feting us at halftime yesterday. We saw a great game as DC United beat the LA Galaxy and they treated our Homeless World Cup team like professional athletes. Ben Olson came out to our games and conducted a skills clinic and the team let our players meet the DC United players as they came onto the field for the second half of the game. DC United is a class act. Thanks for all of the support. And MLS supported us in NYC and LA too. We can’t thank you enough.
Heads Up: US Trials for Homeless World Cup Coming to Washington DC
Wednesday, June 4th, 2008As many of you know, a group of us helped produce a wonderful film called “Kicking It“. The film pivots around a charity soccer tournament called the Homeless World Cup. This charity is a terrific enterprise and believes that a “ball can change one’s life” and that teamwork and being part of a competitive environment can enhance and upgrade one’s standing in life.
The film has been very successful. It premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January. It then went on to the Tribeca Film Festival in NYC in May and will come to Washington, DC, at the SILVERDOCS Film Festival in June. The film will open in theaters in LA, NYC and DC in June as well. Please see this website for specific info on times and theaters as well. ESPN is a partner in the film and will be broadcasting the film on its networks, too, this fall and Netflix will stream the film as well.
This year’s Homeless World Cup will be played in Melbourne, Australia in December. See website for more information. The US Trials for picking a team to send to Australia will be held in DC in late June. Come back soon to this blog for specific information on locations, times and how you can help.
We wanted to bring the US Trials of the Homeless World Cup to DC to help promote the causes related to stopping homelessness and to introduce this charity to the people of our nations’ capital.
The weekend for the event will be June 27th to the 29th. This coincides with the opening of the film in Washington, DC, and is also scheduled around the DC United vs. LA Galaxy game at RFK Stadium.
We will provide lots of information around this event and how you can help soon but please hold these dates in your schedule and plan to come on out and help us support this most worthy cause.
