Still?

We still don’t know who we will play in round 2 of the playoffs.

We await the outcome of the next two Game 7s tonight so stay tuned.

The Montreal vs. Boston series is quite intense and hard hitting with two great goaltenders being showcased.

The Pittsburgh vs. Tampa series is also so close and tough to call a favorite there as well.

We all will be watching and awaiting news of the outcomes.

I stayed up late and watched the Vancouver vs. Chicago game. What a thriller and a great OT win for the Canucks! That was quite the jubilation and emotional release as a celebration with the win like a giant weight had been lifted. Great game. Wow!

I am so impressed with these playoffs. Every team is capable of a win; one bounce; one piece of good fortune; and one lucky bounce changes the game. So close — so hard fought — so noble.

Stay tuned and wish us well. The clock is now ticking. We have had a nice rest. We are practicing hard. We will see you all again soon. Go Caps!

NHL Playoffs

Just about every series is close.

There are no favorites.

There are overtime games galore.

We will look back at our series against the New York Rangers and see a 4-1 in games scorecard but we will know that our series had 2 OT games and every game was close with no margin of error. Luck played a big role in what we did and that every team that qualifies for the playoffs is a team capable of winning a series.

There are multiple Game 7s to be played.

A President’s Cup winner is in a Game 7 again this season after going up 3-0 in the series.

Great teams are in Game 7 dog fights.

Been there done that. It is a nerve-wracking time indeed.

The NHL playoffs are so intense; so much fun; and so close — too close to call.

Sit back and enjoy this great competition.

We await news on which team we will play in round 2. Whoever it is, there will be no favorites. It will be a great challenge. I expect a fun and intense and highly competitive series.

Till then – watch and tune in. This is great hockey that is being played. The NHL playoffs are “must see TV” indeed. Go Caps!

Throw All the Stats Out the Window

The difference in professional sports between winning and losing is so very small.

The Florida Panthers – who finished in last place in the East – played in 51 games this season that were one goal differential games.

The New York Rangers – who we play in the first round – have scored 233 goals and allowed 198 goals against. They have a +35 goal differential. The Caps have scored 224 goals and allowed 197 against and have a +27 goal differential. We finished first in the East. The Rangers finished eighth yet they have comparable to better stats than we do. We won 48 games and they won 44 games. They were 9-3 in shootouts while we were 5-6 in shootouts. And on and on.

We are all even now. We are all 0-0 now.

Ovi Is Out

Locusts anyone?

Life goes on.

Alex will miss some time. That is the news of the day.

Every one of our core “young guns” this season – Ovechkin, Semin, Green and Backstrom – has missed a bunch of games this season due to injury.

Add Poti, Fehr, Arnott and Varlamov to the mix, too.

Life goes on.

We play a game on Tuesday in Philadelphia.

Then Friday night and Saturday night, too. No one feels sorry for you so we can’t feel sorry for ourselves.

One more win to clinch a playoff spot then sprint through the last games of the season and hope we heal up in time for the playoffs across the board.

World’s Most Powerful Man at Caps Game

We played the Chicago Blackhawks yesterday so it was only appropriate that the most powerful man in the world would finally come to a game with us.

We are so grateful and it was so wonderful to welcome…DJ Pauly D!!!!

Who needs POTUS when you can have DJ Pauly D come to the box; pose for pictures with everyone; and go up on the big screen and “Beat that beat up.”

He is a very polite young man, very studious and courteous. I liked him very much. He and Alex Ovechkin have become friends. John Carlson and Eric Fehr know him as well.

He brought us luck. He is welcomed back anytime.
