End Sermon
Thanks to DC United for feting us at halftime yesterday. We saw a great game as DC United beat the LA Galaxy and they treated our Homeless World Cup team like professional athletes. Ben Olson came out to our games and conducted a skills clinic and the team let our players meet the DC United players as they came onto the field for the second half of the game. DC United is a class act. Thanks for all of the support. And MLS supported us in NYC and LA too. We can’t thank you enough.
A Bit More on the Weekend and All of the Great Press
Thank you, thank you. Helping to bring the message of hope and redemption through sports is a great calling in life.
All About Goals
Here is a well done piece on homelessness and our weekend tournament from the Washington Post.
We generated an incredible amount of good and positive press for the homeless, which is one of the main deliverables of Filmanthropy. Thank you for those of you who turned out to support the games and these wonderful people.
The Punch on “Kicking It”
Thanks so much for the support.
Thank You Bob Cohn
Thanks to the Washington Times. This is a really great article about the games played yesterday with profiles on some of the great people that are playing on the pitch.
It was a great day with lots of healthy competition and then a nice set of meals followed by the premiere of “Kicking It”. Today, we will be playing street soccer all day so come on out and enjoy the festivities and the games. See you at Kastles Tennis Stadium.
Washington Post Review on “Kicking It”
Here is a mixed review on our film from the Washington Post. Certainly the film is getting its share of publicity and helping to shine a light on homelessness.
LA Times Review on “Kicking It”
“Kicking It” opens in LA this weekend as well. Here is a nice review from the LA Times.
Flocking to DC to Play Soccer
Here is another nice write-up on the tournament. I am proud of the efforts being expended here on the players’ behalf.
Mike Wise on the Tournament
Here is an in-depth story on the Homeless World Cup US Trials which start today at the Kastles’ stadium in downtown DC. I think Mike was touched by these people’s stories as was I and I am so grateful that our city will bear hug our guests all weekend long.
