Yikes
As noted here, New York Times stock hit $3.77 cents per share. The Sunday New York Times cost $4.00 a copy. Not sure what that symbolizes but it isn’t positive.
Kick Save and a Beauty
The New York Times may have bought itself some time by seeking a mortgage or loan secured by its new building in downtown Manhattan. If it gets a deal done, its cash squeeze will ease.
I am disappointed that this set of crises at the New York Times isn’t front page news IN THE NEW YORK TIMES itself. I am hopeful that the organization pays down its debt and keeps publishing and focuses itself more on verticals and becoming an online-oriented organization. We need a free and independent press or some sort. I never thought I would see the day where the Chicago Tribune and the New York Times would be at risk.
New York Times Running on Empty
Kudos to Silicon Alley Insider for this reporting and analysis. I only wish the New York Times did this level of reporting on its own developing internal story. It owes that to its readers and investors, don’t you think? Where is the series of big investigative reports on this looming cash crisis at the New York Times by the New York Times?
