I Voted and You Should Too

Fans are voting for the best local players for the last decade on Washingtonpost.com. It is wonderful to see that Ovechkin, Kolzig and Bondra are ranked in the Top 6 with Alex leading all local athletes as the athlete of the decade in Washington, DC. If you have a chance, please review the list and let your voice be heard.

Here is the link to vote.

In an ironic twist, I voted for Ovechkin as best athlete and Jagr as biggest bust for a local athlete. Here is that list to vote on as well.

So what does that say about me? :-)  I am so confused…

What’s NOT to Laich?

Here is a nice story on Brooks Laich. Brooks had a very good year. He is developing nicely as a very versatile player. He is also emerging as a fan favorite. He is big, fast, strong and young with upside in his game. He plays center; wing; kills penalties; and can play on the power play.

Peter Bondra was one of my favorite players of all time. He is now retired. We traded Peter to Ottawa and Brooks Laich came to us in return. I have kept some of the emails I received about the trade. You should read them sometime. They would make your hair stand on end. :-)

It is a great story that Brooks has developed into a nice piece of our overall rebuild plan.
