Russian Women Want to Meet You

It is good to be Ovie. It is good to be King.

I am kind of speechless. Check out this article and photos within. I am glad there are only about 30 days left in the off season but it is good to see Ovie back on the playing field again.

Alex is one of a kind and as he said in his latest MVP acceptance speech in Las Vegas, “What a life.”

Is Ovie More Popular than Obama?

In Russia, he is. :-)  Thanks to our President who mentioned Alex Ovechkin during his speech in Russia yesterday.

Change has come and I now know our President will accept an offer from us and come on out and Rock the Red at a game this next season. That will be a lot of fun for all. Go Caps! And thank you Mr. President. Click here to read all about it.

A Chapter Closed

Jaromir Jagr is leaving the NHL and going to play in Russia.

It was seven years ago that we made the trade to bring him to Washington, DC…a lifetime in sports. So much water has gone under the bridge in that time frame. We have a completely different team than the one he played on now.

This press story reminded me of that summer so long ago when we made the trade for Jagr, the hope and promise it represented and the eventuality of how it turned out for our team. Not all big deals and big signings work out. We took a risk. It didn’t work and we have moved on. A lesson learned.

I wish him the best in his new career in Russia.

Russian Celebration

Fedorov. Ovechkin. Semin. They are all big time national heroes over in Russia right now. And deservedly so. The President of Russia has invited them all to the Kremlin and there will be a major ticker tape parade thrown in their honor. We are proud of our players who won the gold medal. We are also proud of all of our other players who excelled at the World Championship including Huet, Green, Backstrom, Fleischmann and Lepisto.
