Wal-Mart Buys VUDU

Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010

VUDU is a digital movie streaming and downloading service. Consumers more and more want to watch films on their computers or on their HD televisions sets in their own living rooms. TV’s and PC’s are merging and blurring. When Wal-Mart enters the market it has certainly gone main stream.

One of the reasons I created Snagfilms was to take advantage of this convergence and to make good work film ubiquitous to large audiences.

I think we have positioned Snagfilms quite well. In 18 months of service we are now streaming literally tens of millions of minutes per month of films to millions of consumers. We are helping Indie film makers. We are helping charities and we are helping consumers and bloggers to self express.

We are an independent company that is trying to do well by doing good. We have a double bottom line and are competing against giant corporations.

Support us today by watching films on Snagfilm and by grabbing a film widget and showing films to your friends. Help us be David to these Goliaths. Small is beautiful.

It is That Time of Year

Wednesday, December 9th, 2009

We get sweaty and itchy about being consumers. We want to shop til we drop.

Think again. Watch What Would Jesus Buy? and step off the ledge.

Save some money and help a charity.

Make something personal for a loved one.

This is such a great film to watch this time of year. Check it out on SnagFilms.com.

Watch War Without Winners with Paul Newman.

Make love, not war this weekend.

This film was deep in the vault. It is a great 30 minute film and worth your watching. Paul Newman was da man, too!

Indulge Me

If you can’t make the Washington Capitals preseason game tonight and you have time to kill, wish us luck at the Emmy Awards and then click on Nanking and watch it on SnagFilms.com.

Nanking has been recognized with many awards and tonight it is up for three more. But to be honest, the reason this film is so powerful and moving is because it focuses on the heroics of Westerners and the Chinese people who found a way to save the lives of hundreds of thousands of refugees.

The film is dedicated to the memories of the heroes who saved all of those people; the survivors of Nanking; and to Iris Chang.

Wish us luck.

Speaking of the Olympics - Here is the Latest Sport

Thursday, September 10th, 2009

Greasy Pole flag challenges. Think you can walk on a balance beam - over water - that is coated with 8 inches of grease? Go for it.

Here is the seven minute film about this sport. I would like to see Olympic hopefuls handle this event. Let us see how tough they really are. This is all about authenticity and true sportsmanship. Enjoy the film on SnagFilms.com.

Get the Gits

Monday, August 24th, 2009

Rape. Murder. Unfulfilled destiny. What a film. What a story. What a tragedy. This film has it all. And then it shows justice or does it?

You have to watch it. What a mystery and a great documentary.

There are a lot of stinkers out there and you would have to buy tickets at $10 per ticket to see some bad films. Here is a great film and it is free of charge. Click here to watch.

The Mafia

Friday, August 21st, 2009

This is a funny article in Fortune.com. It is a story about new start-ups launched by ex AOLers and how we seem to have embraced the content space. It is very nice to SnagFilms, too.

Check it out by clicking here but everyone knows there is ”no mafia”.
