Professional sports are much maligned. They have such scrutiny and such passion wrapped around them and so many negative slants that sometimes, we forget the true beauty at the heart of the matter.
I am honored to lead a partnership that owns professional sports teams. When I read articles such as this one - click here please - it makes me swell with pride. Love, passion, friendship, honor and civic duty and family connectedness…that is what it is all about. And we also have players that we can be proud of in our community. Thank you Alex and Matt.
I have received many threatening emails or instant messages and some emails that can be considered quite suspect over the many years of our Washington Capitals ownership.
I even get blog comment postings from people trying to cover their true identity. Please be aware that everything has a digital fingerprint and if you do send something threatening or truly despicable, your identity can be traced back to its eventual source by the authorities.
Professional sports will not be immune to the economic downturn. We all understand that as Wall Street and Main Street struggle, the trickle down will affect our business.
Our commitment and pledge to all is to work hard to earn you discretionary dollar and to offer up products and services that give you a return on your investment. We will also work as hard as you do. We will never forget our place in the landscape and are very appreciative of all of your support.
Isn’t this great journalism? The Examiner as an enterprise and the newspaper industry as a whole should be so proud. This is true Pulitzer Prize material. Congratulations.
As someone once said, “Nero fiddles while Rome burns.”
