Rest We Can

We agree.

Getting some time off is good.

Let the body and the mind settle down for our players.

Every team this time of year is dinged up.

We are still missing Mike Knuble; Dennis Wideman,  and Tom Poti from the line up– and Mike Green–who was playing great– can use a few days off as well.

And I think our fans can rest their vocal chords for a few days as well. Drink green tea with honey!

We will know soon enough who we play in the next round; we will know soon enough our schedule.

We know we will open up at home.

Yesterday– the team played with maturity and focus.

The big names were all over the score card; but no one is focused on stats; no one cares about individual  work; it is about team and our fans.

Our young players– our core  group– and our vets all played as “one”.

We move on to the next round; we get to celebrate a holiday with  some time off;  we get a clean email box for a few days; although the one person who complained to me about NOT living up to expectations because the games were too close and we didn’t sweep–  I ask to take a chill pill please:-).

Thanks for being such wonderful and supportive fans; thanks for sticking with us. Go Caps. Onward.

Yep – This is How It Unfolded

True. Accurate.

Lays out the facts.

Hard work here in getting to the details.

Read this one as we prepare to start the playoffs, the most exciting time of year for our fans and the media that cover our team.

Please remember the game starts at 7:30 pm tonight and there may be travel issues on Metro and there is construction going on all along Constitution Avenue. Please be prepared for delays.

Also please note that the demand for access to the venue and game is unprecedented. We are doing our best to accommodate all media and bloggers but we simply don’t have enough physical rooms to host everyone. Please do not think we have made any changes in access. Our issue is very similar to our last two playoff series. The demand for access is simply over the top and we don’t have enough physical capacity to host everyone. And there are many official media outlets for the New York Rangers that we must host as well. Please have empathy to our staff. Don’t get angry at the messenger.

Thank you all for the support. The after market demand for tickets to tonight’s game is over the top as well. Wish us luck. Wish us good health. Please be loud and proud but polite to all. Go Caps! Thank you again.

Torch was Passed

As noted in my blog twice this series, the Pittsburgh Penguins are the better team and they deserved to win the Stanley Cup. The torch has been passed from the Red Wings to the Penguins. They are the class of the NHL. They are the champs and they deserve everyone’s respect and congratulations.

They are a great set of core young players and they have a great franchise; great fan base; great ownership and coaching. We all have our hands full now. They came back from two game deficits in two different series. They won two Game 7′s on the road. They are worthy Stanley Cup winners. That kind of determination has never been shown before in NHL history. Youth must be served. Kudos and congratulations to the Pittsburgh Penguins.

They Are What Their Records Say They Are

The Red Wings vs. the Penguins rematch in the Stanley Cup Finals will be great theater.

They are the two best teams in the NHL.

They both play a high tempo aggressive game. Both teams are filled with star players and have very good D; great centers; strong goaltending; great special teams play; and are well coached and have experience throughout the lineups.
