This is getting sadder and sadder. When I was growing up in Brooklyn, Jim Carroll and The Basketball Diaries were all the rage. And his song, “People Who Died” was the soundtrack of our lives for one summer. He was deep into Brooklyn’s psyche; a hipster before it was hip; and a real hoopster, too.
